The Acolyte (Star Wars, Disney+) TV Show • Page 26

  1. I know lol. Before it became obvious, I looked up Muun on Wookiepedia, and the Wookieepedia page for Muun makes no explicit reference to Plagueis himself being one, so for a couple minutes I thought it was just a creepy banker lurking in the background of the show.

    yeah good okay Prestigious

for as much as I've griped about some aspects of this show, I feel like they stuck the landing. That was worth the wait. Cool fights, loved Harewood in this, hell I even loved the reveal at the very very end

Overall I thought the episode was okay.

    • the Sol vs Darth Teeth fight was great

    • the kyber crystal bleeding was perfect

    • Mae is the most nothing character in Star Wars history (hyperbole). She got her memory wiped and STILL had the same amount of character through the season

    • why did Bazil stop Sol from firing upon Mae?

    • I never want to see Disney have “twins” fight again. The stunt double was so obvious that it took me out of the very short fight.

    • This show did Mae & Osha dirty. The anger at Mae basically came out of nowhere; a couple of episodes ago Osha was asking Yord to take care of Mae because she didn’t think she could. And Mae kept flip flopping between a wealth of emotions that did not make sense to me.

    • Did Vernestra scapegoat Sol so she wouldn’t have to reveal her previous padawan? I mean, Sol is a horrible Jedi — he was so bad at controlling his emotions that he couldn’t use the force like 1/4 of the time. But he’s not a cold blooded killer. Just a shitty, jumpy, cop-like, trigger-happy killer.

    • I am less excited about a second season because it looks like we will be getting a lot more Mae and Vernestra. A ton of The Stranger and an episode-6-like Osha could make it really good. Please just go for a dark and serious tone. More like episodes 5 & 6, and less everything else.

    • Cave dude sure looked like Plagueis to me!

The second adult novel, The Rising Storm, is one of my favorite Star Wars books. It’s a non-stop thrill ride.

Character work on Mae and Osha was overall very very bad. Virtually all of their choices are okay in, like, synopsis, but wholly unearned in the actual runtime of the show.

That being said I really enjoyed that finale. Lots of really cool sequences that if anything just make me scratch my head even more at the plotting of this season. If we can somehow get past 1/2 of the twins being the least interesting part of her own show I think they’re essentially leaving everything off in a substantially more interesting place.

Can someone explain the scary looking dude sticking his head out of the darkness in that one scene after they discuss leaving?

Also, is Darth Plagueis supposed to be a creepy looking guy who lurks in the shadows? I know he’s an alien. I haven’t read the book about him, though I think it’s not canon now.

Can't stop thinking about the bleeding of the kyber crystal. That was so rad.

Why on earth did Sol not use the Force to stop Ohsa from leaving the ship at the beginning, haha

    Yes

It's not canon, but the new Stars Wars Canon under Dave Filoni has been taking heavy inspiration from the old canon.

Yea, the twin fight double was pretty obvious. Why would Mae not just go with them? She’s still wanted for the murder of two Jedi.

This is a very nerdy question - but is this the first time there has been any reference to heaven/hell? Mae says “see you in hell Jedi”.

I want to say there was a reference to something being “5 miles away” or “x minutes out” episodes back, too. I don’t recall that language ever being used before but I’m probably wrong.

Han Solo says it in Empire and the clones say it a bunch but more in the “what the hell was that” sense

I feel like “hell” was already said earlier in the season. I have a memory of some inept moron on threads claiming hell didnt exist in Star Wars so it’s ruining it and blah blah blah.

But yea, Han’s line is probably the most memorable use of “hell.” But Uncle Owen says it in ep4. I forget the exact line, but he says if Luke doesn’t finish his work by midday there would be hell to pay.

I don't know if there has ever been a season of TV I have been this mixed on since I dunno The Wire season 5 maybe? So many things I truly hated and other things I absolutely loved all mixed together.

I think this show had cool set, prop and costume designs. Everything else - writing, acting, character development, pacing - just felt awkward and confusing.

I want a season 2 only because it feels so wrong to leave live action Plagueis hanging unresolved because a tv show underperformed
