Everyone doomsaying about Democrats giving up need to get a grip. Trump is going to say something unbelievably stupid and incendiary by Friday at the latest and they'll all have permission to restart their campaign ads and hop on cable news to remind everyone how awful a president he'll be. I know everyone is in shock but try and think beyond the next five minutes.

 

Is Biden the nominee beyond the next five minutes? Because this race was over before Trump got the martyr treatment

 

I mean a competent campaign team could hypothetically still retake the narrative momentum from Trump and swing the pendulum back in the next 4 months, but Biden doesn't have one of those so...

 

If Biden starts promising to legalize cannabis federally in the next couple months be scared, because that means they are absolutely desperate.

 

yeah this is also true. All this koombyah shit will devolve back into a regular campaign the minute Trump starts being Trump again, which will almost definitely be this week at the RNC. The problem is that seemingly buys Biden another week when the switch needs to be done ASAP

 

I also agree that we can resolve differences at the battle box.

 

I don’t think this really works without Biden also stepping aside. Voters won’t be focused on policy details if they can’t get past the idea of Biden being an effective leader in 2026.

Most of the talk I see from friends on IG and FB is revolving around it being staged lol. Not talking like vote blue no matter who libs either. People who I don’t think vote Dem and/or are “govt is bad both parties suck” types

The biggest story of the weekend for Republicans is that their candidate nearly got assassinated but stood up with his fist raised looking like a savage, and the biggest stories of the weekend for Democrats is that they're close to giving up on their chances at winning the election and their candidate just said "battle box" instead of ballot box in a speech.

Sure would be a big and good story to change the momentum by replaceing your elderly candidate with someone new and energetic
