  2. As a huge fan of his work, it crushed me to see this come out about him. Hoping he's changed his ways, taking time out was the right decision regardless. Better than just barrelling ahead with his career and acting like nothing happened.

I remember the news about P.O.S and Astronautalis both coming out around the same time, felt like a total haymaker.

I don’t know how to feel about P.O.S. coming back right now. I hope he’s done the work but without knowing how his victims feel (and they should NOT be required to make statements in support or disapproval) I dunno if I can listen to his stuff again.

I know Dessa made a vow to hold him accountable and get him help. Seems weird that he's coming back with no explanation.

If POS ever does press for these and future projects, it's bound to come up and that would be the time to see if/how he has done the work needed to be a better partner. Fingers crossed he has.

Nooooo. Idk anything about the personal lives of anyone in the band but been a big fan forever and have been using a variation of Julian's name as my passwords forever (plz don't hack me I am bad at secure passwords thnx). Vomit at an adult referring to a relationship with a teenager as a great deep connection. He's as old as my parents so that just puts it in a creepier perspective for me

I was looking for an address once and hit a guy on his bicycle. Through no virtue of my own, 1) the guy happened to have been absolutely speeding down the sidewalk and ran through the crosswalk while it was a red hand so fast that he almost made it completely past me before I realized he had rode in front of me so I barely knicked him as he zoomed past and 2) the guy happened to be a gentle British man. So he stood up, walked to my car, and apologized to me for not looking and driving through the crosswalk as I was entering it. Then he rode off on his way.

The moral of the story is that shit scared the shit out of me so hard that I stopped doing risky phone stuff while driving and I feel very lucky that that is what happened and not worse.

I feel like in the US at least we're so hostile to pedestrians sometimes drivers legit don't even think to look for them. I've started to realize that unless the driver makes legit eye contact with me, they aren't looking for pedestrians at all and are going to go regardless of me having the right of way

i was once hit (fairly moderately, thankfully) and knocked off my bike as i was entering a crosswalk with a walk signal. driver told me she saw me, but had assumed i would notice she was turning and waited for her to pass before i crossed, so she had just looked left to check for traffic while rolling right into me.

almost the exact same thing happened a couple years later while i was walking into an intersection with a walk signal. dude in a minivan had to slam his brakes to stop from hitting me. then he laid on the horn and started yelling at me for not watching for traffic. i pointed straight at the walk signal and he just actively did not care, said he was in a car so it was my responsibility to be on the lookout so i didn't cause him to hit me. wild stuff.

If I don’t go into a zen place while I drive home every day, the amount of asshole and dangerous maneuvers by people in cars that I encounter every single day makes me feel like humans are default horrible and it’s pure luck anything good actually makes it out into the world. Risking lives to get 10 feet further or save 15 seconds.

  14. Yeah I haven't driven since getting T-boned in 2019, I miss just riding around back roads but being on the road with other drivers terrifies me tbh

I will join in here and echo these sentiments. I stopped driving and let my wife drive everywhere we go. She’s a very safe driver and somehow keeps cool under pressure. Insane drivers roll off her back and it’s incredible how adept she is at allowing people to just be morons and then move on. I cannot handle it. I’ve been in two accidents, neither of them my fault, and that changes you. People scare the hell out of me on the road. I see the way people cut each other off and race down the freeway and it makes me shake. When my wife drives I can just talk, close my eyes, or keep my head down. I’m very grateful for it.

Living in Florida, where drivers are the worst, every day is a nightmare for me on the road.

That's why it also irks me that my brother is very much one of those drivers that I would be cursing under my breath if I weren't in the car with him, and this fact does not escape me as he rides the assholes of the vehicles in front.

I was in a crash about a month ago, car was written off because someone pulled out in front of me as I was accelerating onto the freeway. Don't normally take that specific part of road to work, but haven't been able to do so since.

I missed how driving came up as a topic in the accountability thread but dropping by to share that the city put up a new stoplight to make a new 4 way stop right by my apartment building and it’s on the road that does not need to make this a 4 way stop (or even a 2 way stop to be honest) and since the light went up has actually caused more accidents than there ever was before because it’s in such a random ass place for a stoplight on a country road so naturally everyone misses it and flies through the red light while cross traffic assumes they’re safe to go because a light says so and the number of people that don’t look to make sure it’s safe before hitting the gas is absurd. A green light does not make it safe to go!
