    Holy shit this is great

Love all his stuff but this one is more immediate/consistent than the self-titled for me

Lol, one of the few songs where he goes outside of his usual sonic and melodic comfort zone is the "weak" one. I love the guy, but he repeats himself a lot. That song is a breath of fresh air for a ton of reasons and is easily one of the best things here.

Weak does not mean bad, but there’s a handful of songs on this that I find more interesting. Springsteen bias be damned.

you could remove bruce from it entirely, though why would you, and the song would still be great. huge hook, cool production.

This. It points off in a new direction that I find very intriguing for him. Whereas a lot of this album, as much as I enjoy it, isn't reinventing the wheel at all from his past albums.

Solid record but I can’t imagine a stadium show of tunes this pace keeping people engaged. Would be cool to see a small venue show.

The Quittin Time Tour is one of the loudest concerts I’ve ever attended for singalongs

I'm bummed I wasn't as into him in March when he played Chicago and now it's not really feasible to go see him.

that’s awesome! Def get the appeal of that, but I prefer a quieter setting, people scream singing lyrics is irritating for me. It’s the only reason I’ve yet to see Lana.

Please listen to this live take and tell me the sing-along doesn't add something extremely powerful to the song.

East Side of Sorrow live, with the crowd, took me straight to tears. It was wild.

Main issue with Sandpaper is how much it tries to be I’m on Fire without it being that. It’s too close to just not be a cover of that song so it bugs me.

I've never been a country music fan. Most strains of it have always annoyed the hell out of me. But I gave his last album a half listen and didn't hate it and gave this one a listen at the weekend and enjoyed it a lot. Still think it'll be a one off and doubt there'll be any other country that will break through my defences, but will definitely give his other stuff a proper listen.

Respectfully, I wish country and country-leaning music didn’t constantly inspire that kind of reaction. The “so surprised I enjoyed this that now I’m suspicious of it” reaction. “Doubt there’ll be any other country that will break through my defences”? It’s ok to recognize that your preconceived notions might be wrong, or that there are at least exceptions to the preferences you’ve always had. A lot of country sucks, but a lot of it is great! Like every other genre. Idk, I just can’t quite wrap my head around liking something out of your wheelhouse and the takeaway being “This was obviously a fluke” rather than “Huh, what else is out there that I might enjoy.”
