that’s not the best comparison. There ain’t nothing outside OKC. There’s a lot of stuff for hours worth of drive outside cities like NY and DC

definitely just a different thing in larger metropolitan areas. When I talk about Jacksonville I don’t compare surrounding areas cause they all fuckin suck lol

There are bigger ENTIRE CITIES than Oklahoma City that are just considered an outside part of the DC / NY metro areas lol

All of OKC could fit inside northern Virginia’s suburbs alone easily, and Baltimore’s technically still in the greater DC region but is twice that size, for example

No hahaha, I’m just saying when I say “Hudson valley > Long Island” or “Maryland DC suburbs >>>>” I’m talking about areas that are really diverse and plentiful and populated with tons of great large towns with their own cultural offerings. Whereas in a metro of roughly a million people, (like Jacksonville) it actually is pointless to compare those outer areas cause they all basically got nothin in em. So I understand you thinking it’s a pointless exercise based on where you live and not quite realizing the vast differences in what these outer regions offer.

Part of the reason I love the northeast is cause it’s not just the cities… multiple large cities being so close together means there’s a ton of awesome shit between too

But you can do it with other big cities too. In Dallas area I’d probably say Denton is my vibe but I would NOT enjoy Waxahachie. In SF area, Oakland >>>> San Jose. If I’m living in Atlanta, Decatur is way better than Brookhaven or Marietta, and outside Atlanta northern Georgia >>>> other Georgia (except Athens is pretty tight.). North Seattle in general >>>> south Seattle or Bellevue across the lake, west Seattle is nice but isolated, and outside the city I’d take Bellingham or North Bend over anything on the south side or across the Puget Sound. Etc

Chappell Roan does a lot of really cool things with her voice, production / songwriting wise. I’m loving that most of the musical detail is a capella

it helps counteract the fact my indie rock brain always wants to hear more detailed instrumentals than most pop music offers. I’m actually finding myself engaged and my attention held by Roan because the ideas and movement is always fresh.
