Finally getting through my back log. Only to add to it!

Sufjan sounds amazing on this new amplifier. Well worth the money!

I nabbed the Torche albums used from a shop. My buddy offloaded a bunch of lps at the store and I asked if he still had his Torche lps but it was too late. So I ended up buying them from the store he offloaded them at for the same amount he got for them haha.

Guess we’re just releasing super obscure EP’s of a label that’s been dead for a while. I like a few of their songs, but have never even heard of that one.

gimme “stories for Monday” or go to hell. /bonestorm

  5. I used to really like the song "She's Got the Rhythm" but I can't imagine many people are going to pay (I assume) $25-35 for a 5 song 12" EP.

They played acoustic at our office when SFM came out and were excellent; I’ve always liked that record and remember “Boomerang” and “The Boys You Do…” being fun power pop songs, but yeah, no interest in paying $20+ for a 5 song EP of a band that was never really big in the first place.

    Before Braille - The Rumor
June - If You Speak Any Faster

Long Since Forgotten - All the Things You Said
Holy Roman Empire - The Longue Duree
    Jinxed - Beyond the Obvious
    Innerpartysystem - The Download EP

Long Since Forgotten All the Things You Said and Standing Room Only would be a dream!!

I'd also love the Ivory EP!

    England.

Can’t see that being a big seller for Parting Gift at all. Weird business choice.

On a side note… we get the weirdest releases but things like Student Rick and Useless ID - No Vacation (as far as I know) have never been pressed?

I feel like most of these boutique labels are scrapping the absolute bottom of the barrel. There’s so little that hasn’t been pressed these days.

Student Rick "Soundtrack For Our Generation" would be cool! I used to jam that cd so much when it came out. Saw them on the Victory Records '02 tour with Reach the Sky, Catch 22 and Grade.

I didn't know that! I didn't think anyone remembered them. They're not even on Spotify. They were THE local band when I was in college, so I saw them so many times. They always had the most elaborate stage setup, with a bunch of antique lamps and end tables and stuff. Real cozy vibes.

    I still have the CD.

  19. Yep, this one! Loved this band so much. The EP with Shy and ABC was my favorite, but this record was sick too. Let Us Love, Two Years Now, and Come Back Down are bonafide classics in this household. Really cool that they were one of your local bands! Would’ve loved to see them more than I did. Nathaniel was a homie for a while since he ran with the 8123 crowd but I haven’t talked to him much since he got really serious about religion

  21. My The Damned Things came ever so slightly bent. :(

anyone have any luck with the book and weights method and recommend how to straighten?

i've tried it on a few records now. from experience, it takes at least a few weeks to get it to go down, probably months if it's more severe. none of mine have become perfectly flat (that would take months), but i did get them to the point where the needle won't bounce out of the groove, which took maybe 2-3 weeks.

if you wanna go the book route, make sure you have enough to cover the entire area of the record, and try to apply even pressure on both sides. i've previously used a mix of some hardback game guides, art, reference, and cookbooks to get a steady base and an even amount of pressure. clean it well beforehand and if you have any protective inner sleeves, try putting it in one of those before placing the books on it. time and some small semblance of heat will also help.

best option would be to see if you could acquire a replacement before attempting to flatten it, although if you bought it from Discogs/secondhand and not a retailer with multiple copies on hand, that might not be possible.

i also know people rave about the VinylFlat device if you have that kind of money lying around and want to do it quickly, but i've never gone ahead and tried it out myself.

It also looks like the Enjoy The Ride store has plenty of both variants in stock, so they may honor a replacement. I’ve never had an issue with their team when an order is incorrect or has an issue. Hope this helps!

As someone who tried the heavy book method for a month on a very warped (almost a shallow bowl) Offspring - Americana, I can say it didn’t do shit. I might try again, this time leaving it for 3 months but I’m skeptical.
