I think the distinction is that this is the first time other Dem electeds and the media have seriously questioned his fitness for office. You’re absolutely right, they don’t listen to the people, but they typically listen to the donor class.

I still think he drops out, and relatively soon. I think there were several days of wishcasting that it could all work out, now the poll numbers are out and very bad, and some level of legwork is being done to make the transition from Biden to new nominee seamless and as effectively messages as possible. (Or, in the small chance that there’s actually a public selection process, that the messaging is in place for that.)

The Friday interview thing just doesn’t read as possibly genuine make or break to me - it’s pre taped in the daytime, it’s not gonna move the needle an iota in the public eye.

He should drop out, but he's a stubborn idiot living in a fantasy world so I don't really think he will

Maybe it’s cope, but I think it’s completely possible he can’t message anything other than a strong “I’m staying in the race” message until they really have their ducks in a row on what’s next.

If enough dissenting voices in the party can convince Jill then maybe she can convince him but the clock is running on his mental ability to comprehend any of this and I don’t think they’ll make it in time. It’s like inception but instead of them waking up it’s the dementia taking over

I stand by my “not happening unless Jill Biden convinces him to step down” take because I don’t think she will

Maybe this is just the overwhelming pessimist in me, especially when it comes to America's future, but I have hard time believing that a woman, let alone a black woman, could win the Presidency in 2024.

I know it's "literally anyone else" for a lot of people, but I think they mean "literally any other man, preferably a white one."

Obama won two terms and Hillary won the popular vote and Kamala running would bring out a lot of mysogyny and racism in trump which could rally the base so I don’t think it’s too far fetched

    Yeah imo

I don’t really think this is the case to be honest—see Obama, Hillary. Maybe against a normal republican but absolutely not with trump

I think that's the hope, but my point is more that it feels like the racism and misogyny has gotten worse since those things happened, not better.

It’s gotten worse on the side that would never vote for a democrat to begin with, sure. Anecdotally my centrist conservative parents have gotten much more progressive on race in the last ten years and while my mom would’ve never voted for Hillary im 100% sure she’d vote for Kamala (and voted for Biden)

I have some similar anecdotal experiences, and I do hope that it speaks to the larger temperature. Again, it's very hard to not be overwhelmed with pessimism when looking around.

That first tweet has big John Madden saying "at the end of the game the team with the most points on the board is going to win" energy.

On one hand I think momentum is building for Biden to drop out, but on the other hand I completely get his people looking at these poll numbers and saying “wait really?”. Like, the polls are so fucked up, it feels like flying blind

  25. I think anyone that thinks Biden is not badly losing rn is "flying blind," not the polls.
