very tempted to head down for one of the Chicago shows.

No joke, 5 years old today.

 

feels like yesterday i was picking this up at a record store in St. Louis

maybe their best album?

 

Saw them perform LP1 at Outbreak Fest yesterday. Was a weird way to close a hardcore festival but the crowd got into it. People were dancing, stage diving, crowd surfing, and there was a stage invasion to Never Meant.

A very good time.

after a few months of the latest Owen album, what are our thoughts on it? gonna be honest and say that it still hasn't fully clicked with me yet, after several plays.

 

LP3 was one of my favorite records of the 2010s I'm so psyched

oh shit, they say Ethel Cain apparently did a cover for it?

 

Was kinda in love with Avalanche -> barely listened to Falls of Sioux (although I did coincidentally go back to it earlier this week).

I think the lyricism held it back for me. Mike basically puts his lyrics front and center between the mix and his melodic habits, and they just feel clunkier and more reliant on clichés this run through. I kinda feel bad though because I know the things he is singing about are important to him, just not doing it for me. Maybe I’ll come back with a different take if I continue to return to it this week.

Guitar playing is always pretty cool though and has led to me messing around with some cool open tunings.

 

Basically my feelings on it. I’ve only gone back to it on occasion.

 

per Apple Music overseas, tonight's release is a split single for Never Meant, with the A-side being a cover by Iron & Wine, and the B-side being a 2024 remaster of the original. my assumption is that we're getting a full disc of covers and a whole new remaster of the original LP
