An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

I am so in for a Hugh Grant horror movie lmao

  3. Not distinctly horror, but I rewatched Close Encounters of the Third Kind last night and 1) I love Spielberg's ability to to insert terrifying (or funny, or dramatic) scenes into a movie regardless of genre, and 2) it was awesome seeing how much the abduction scene and other moments clearly influenced Nope.

I just saw Close Encounters for the first time last year and I agree fully!

I never got the hype for Close Encounters of the Third Kind. I always liked the first two movies in the trilogy more.

is that to say it didn’t impress you all that much or that you don’t need retread after retread of the same exact film?

Second one. I liked it! I just watched a YouTube video to explain the rest and couldn’t even finish that.

  11. Halloween II and Season of the Witch are absolutely worth watching on their own merits (the latter in particular for being completely unrelated and bonkers), along with Halloween 2018 if you like modern slashers. The rest is probably for completists, even if I'm partial to Halloween 4.

Agree with this except I’d recommend H20 over 2018, which totally stinks.

Halloween 4 is my second favorite of the franchise, so I'd def recommend that one. The atmosphere of that one is perfection.

  14. ACTUALLY 2018 is brutal and rocks while H20 is a bland Scream-flavored return to form, BUT I GET IT

H20 and 2018 are both great

Can’t wait to watch Close Encounters and no sequels for a while

tbh it’s kinda difficult for me to think of all that many horror sequels that I find worthy of my time. sure there are some but most are just there as fan service imo

This is why Saw X was so cool to see last year

Longlegs look it could be better than Longleg, so count that one

  21. legitimately crazy for a franchise to put out their best film (and one that is genuinely good, not just Saw good) 20 years in

    goddamnit lmao

Respect it, but not a huge Close Encounters fan either.

  23. I thought it was dry the last time I watched it, but it really worked for me this go around. What they were able to put on screen during that final act is really incredible now, let alone for the time.

As far as worthwhile sequels go, Aliens, Gremlins 2, and Dawn of the Dead all immediately come to mind. Out There Halloween Mega Tape and Video Violence 2 are also personal favorites of mine.

  24. And without the Friday sequels, we never would have gotten Jason as we know him!
