Can anyone think of a recent horror movie that was so universally hyped as Longlegs is?

 

I really don’t think I can besides the one I mentioned alongside it but I’m not even sure the hype for that is/was quite as much

 

I think Nosferatu definitely has the potential to match or exceed it tho

 

I was pretty hype for Evil Dead Rise but I think if we’re talking more across the board, then yeah Longlegs has more anticipation I think

Yeah I feel like Longlegs is just on another level, but idk if I’m viewing it from outside my bubble. It just seems like everyone is super stoked on this movie just because of the freaking insane marketing. Lol I’ve even seen non-horror people that I know that are excited for it. Feels like it could be a phenomenon, unless I’m just crazy

 

Oh why is it that you think that? Did you see a trailer for it that the rest of us didn’t see or something?

is nic cage a major draw or something? i don't think maika is a big name outside of horror circles, like, at all.

like we've hardly seen him in any promo. guess that goes to show how effective the marketing is if nonhorror people are stoked about it

 

I think Nic Cage is just a surprising tidbit but it’s definitely more about the effective marketing and trailer promotion

 

Some folks I work with (who are not really into horror) just seem intrigued by it. Weren’t there initial reactions that compared it to Se7en? I feel like that movie probably initially elicited similar curiosities before it came out

 

I haven't heard about it outside this thread tbh but your hype is my hype so now I'm also excited about it

 

Got the Friday the 13th Part 2 vinyl in the mail. Not playing it right now but come October I will be.

 

Watching Alien and the Nostromo just looks so comfy. So much plush. Wanna lay down anywhere on that ship and nap

wasn't it showing with a movie that came out last week? what was it? did anyone go see it?

 

just got to Home on my X-Files rewatch, it's as fucked up as I remembered but I think the dialogue is really what makes that episode special. it's so well written

 

It's currently running before The Bikeriders and yeah I saw it, it's glorious.
