People told you he had a solid rookie year and might be over the cusp of being starting caliber which is already way above par for a late round QB.

Absolutely no one was saying “really good”. And he’s a borderline backup who would and does start for very desperate teams so it wasn’t even that wrong.

There were like two or three off-seasons when "The Patriots should get Minshew!" was a thriving narrative and I hated it. You overrated him as a Jag, Pats fans overrated him afterwards, and anyone who says anything other than "he sucks" now continues to overrate him lol

Everyone overrated him. The dude had better than a 4:1 TD/INT ratio as a rookie. That’s already more than anyone would’ve ever thought he’d accomplish

 

I’m a minshew fan

 

Usually QBs with weak arm in the 6th round are lucky to go 1:1 in 16 games as VETERANS haha

 

He is regressing to the mean now and looks more like what he is - a 6th round pick with the brain to play quarterback but nowhere near enough athleticism to actually execute the things he’s trying to do

 

Right and every time I said "Maybe chill, he's not actually good and there will be a reversion to the mean" I was told "shut up he's fun!" haha

 

as a pats fan i wouldve taken a flier on minshew any day after macs sophmore year. i dont even know that he wouldve done better then mac but at least dude is 100 times easier to root for and maybe wouldve given the team some positive energy

 

Now if only Brock Purdy could regress to the mean so I can be undefeated on these low level QBs who drastically over perform expectations but god damn it

 

Gardner singlehandedly got the Colts to the almost playoffs last season.
