If Shaqiri played every game like it was an important match at an international tournament, he’d be Messi tier

Tumultuous final year at Chelsea where he was injured and also out of the team due to expiring contract with no extension being signed, given the number 7 after a much maligned move to United only to be injured 85-90% of this past campaign is a brutal sequence of events. Whether at United or elsewhere I would love to see him resurrect his career and be playing regularly and enjoying his football.

Joe Hart just gave some genuinely really interesting insight on goalkeeping during one on ones.

Give us more of this kind of stuff. People who actually have things to say and knowledge to share.

    hmmm

Pundits, even bad ones, are often excellent when they get talking about their own position. It just doesn't happen often enough. Michael Owen is the most banal pundit but suddenly interesting when he has a chance to discuss a subject like the movement of a striker. He's far from the only one.

Coaches are usually the best all-round pundits because they've had to think about absolutely everything, and ex-players are great on the intricacies of their former position.

In the past week i have been in Cologne where i live, then at my parents' in Munich, then back to Cologne and now on a 3 days business trip to Mainz (close to Frankfurt). No matter where i am, there are Scotts everywhere in Germany rn. And we fucking love it. They bring such a cool energy..popular social media comments in Germany these days run along the lines of "can we keep them please?"

I’ve got nothing against Alvarez and it’s good to see us linked with a proper 6, especially one who brings some real size to a midfield, but funny to see us linked with another ex ten Hag player.

Lazy link from Romano who has been awful for us recently. He’s been hyping up us being after a midfielder for a couple of weeks now. Pretty sure he just pulled Alvarez out of a hat. If we didn’t want him last season, I doubt we want him now under the new set up.

I mean, if that rule is replicated with other multi-club models then good. But it doesn’t seem to be.

The Athletic posted a big summary of the situation yesterday. I think, from memory, there seems to be a few reasons why United are getting fucked with it but other clubs aren't. I think the rules only changed in January 2024 (or 2023, I can't remember) and only apply when both clubs are competing in UEFA competitions.

RB clubs get around it by technically not having the same owner (even if we all know it's bullshit). City get round it by buying the player from a Ligue 2 club (Savio was only on loan at Girona, but was actually contracted to Troyes).

    Edit - here's the article

I hadn't realised I wanted it until now, but Potter back to Brighton would have been a good fit I think.

Cooper to Leicester is a good pickup, but they're going to struggle if they're already being hit by FFP.
