No one is saying Douglass Park or Humboldt were easy to get out of but at least there were more options than what Bridgeview offers.

I mean, it's going to suck regardless. I think what's tripping people up is the lack of public transit and info about the shuttles. And let's be real: Festival shuttle services don't exactly have a glowing history.

I trust Riot a lot more than I'd trust, say Blue Ridge or Montebello Rock or whatever but... I get why people are anxious about it given the lack of info.

I'd just rather sit in a car that I have control over for 45-60 minutes at the end of a long day versus wandering around desperately trying to get an Uber in a neighborhood I'm unfamiliar with.

    On a positive note!

I grew up over there and still work in the area. When I have time today I’ll list some of the best food and things to do if you feel like venturing away from the venue.

Same for a shuttle. You can't pay me enough to get on one of those after a day of Riot Fest. The body smells alone...

This is really awesome of you! Haha. By chance do you know if there's any decent vegan spots in the vicinity?

My partner is right on the edge of deciding whether she wants to come or not and I think that might legit be one of the driving factors for her. LOL

Something to keep in mind - if you have in/out privleeges that only applies to the festival, not parking. Once the car is parked, it's there.

It’s been a minute since I’ve been to Bridgeview and more specifically that stadium but I don’t recall the area being super walkable, so unless there are food options like right in the immediate vicinity, plus the fact that you can’t take your car out and back, means people are gonna be stuck eating the shitty festival food. At least at Douglass you could eat from the street vendors before/during/after.

For what it’s worth, I’m not pro SeatGeek by any means. There’s a lot of politics in that place that disgusts me. I'm just trying to find the silver lining in it. I wish we could still have it literally anywhere but there. At the end of the day though I’m happy the event is still happening.

My lot had a ton of people parking in it. They would park then take an Uber up 73rd and walk the rest of the way once they hit traffic.

If the Red Stars do in fact find a different place for their game, are we assuming Riot Fest expands into the stadium like Summer Smash did?

Yeah id imagine! open air used the stadium and only had one stage in the lot and it went off without a hitch! lot of walking up and down those stairs but at least you could sit in the stadium if you didnt want to stand

during the interview riot Mike said they weren't using the stadium at all and all 5 main stages will be built outside

the map they put out has the stadium but it’s not even being used. It’s hidden behind a bunch of stuff

The "map" was made assuming both the game and festival would happen.

Would they consider it if it didn't cost more? Probably.

If it were to become available and wouldn’t cost more I don’t see why they wouldn’t want to create the space.

We now know why Riot didn’t get The Jesus Lizard

I swear to god the week after Riot Fest is littered with acts who were likely considered or approached.

Julien Baker, The National, American Football, Jesus Lizard. I swear I’m missing some others.

...Or these other things are happening because a deal with Riot didn't work out / the band just didn't want to do that particular festival.

Last time around, Jesus Lizard got paid $$$ for their slot and I'd imagine they would have been offered significantly less and wouldn't have had the peak evening slot they got last time looking at the rest of the bill.

Similarly, if you're Bad Religion and you closed out Radical/Rise in the past and were direct support for a main stage headliner last time... Why not wait a year until NOFX is out of the picture and they've got a new album to promote?

That’s partially my point. Could be they want to see how it works out at the new location first. I’d be worried about the checks cashing or asking for a larger advance if I was asked and aware of a substantial location change.

Also, the last time TJL played Chicago was Riot 2018 which was maybe an hour set? They typically play much longer than that at their headlining shows, so they probably wanted to do something more appealing to the fans. Even though they’re playing a “festival,” they’ll likely get a full 90 minute set like they typically play and tickets will be more obtainable for the fans
