I mean, if you can't go in for 50/50s anymore, we might as well make it a non-contact sport lol

 

I think my biggest pet hate in the sport at the minute is the TV networks using ref analysts - most of them either don't know the rules, refuse to actually make a judgement and sit on the fence, or defend their mates decision. Utterly, utterly pointless.

 

Tbf she’s actually been really good so far. Way better than when Sky have done it. She’s been knowledgeable, to the point, and pretty accurate.

I think she also didn’t say she think it “should” be a yellow in her opinion, just that she thought it would be given basically.

 

That to me was the more worrying implication though. The way she worded it was that an attacking player shouldn't be going for a 50/50 with a diving keeper, because that's putting the goalkeeper at risk. As you say, she didn't sound like she was giving her opinion on whether it should be a foul, but whether it would be, which suggests that it's some guidance referees are following.

 

Yeah not a fan of that at all.

In fairness, this is why the "bigger" clubs should have the better squads. On paper anyway. It's not the competions fault if some managers choose not to rotate because they don't trust in what they've got.

Pep does not operate with a huge squad, it's actually smaller than other clubs at the top of the financial table. He's said it enough times in enough public spaces that it's not insider information. The smaller squad is on purpose to keep the quality players happy and he is comfortable doing so even when injuries start adding up.

 

Is the point not that Pep can rotate £100m players into his squad to keep everyone fresh and have no drop off in quality, whereas non-cheats have to rely on children or significantly inferior players?

One, let’s not resort to name calling. It’s uncalled for, particularly because you’ve made assumptions about what I was implying that simply aren’t correct.

Two, my implication was that only City can rotate without greatly diminishing the quality of their 11. Not that they have a massive squad, because everyone knows that isn’t the case. They simply have more players of a higher quality than anyone else. Which isn’t an attack on City, it’s just a fact.

 

Hate him even being considered a human. He feeds off it.
