Don’t think it’s ever been there. It hasn’t really been ran since 2006 but used to usually be at RFK Stadium and would draw between 50K and 90K people with 30-40 bands across two days some years. In its biggest years, it was easily one of the biggest festivals on the east coast.

 

Fuuuuuuck, need a candy tour badly

 

This was 2004, the lineup was:

Main stage: The Cure, The Offspring, Jay-Z, P.O.D., New Found Glory, Violent Femmes, Cypress Hill, Papa Roach, Lostprophets, Yellowcard, O.A.R., Voodoo Blue

Second stage: Modest Mouse, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Lit, The Living End, Fall Out Boy, Taking Back Sunday

 

Also those old fests were associated with a radio station that isn’t around. The local promoter here who runs 930 Club, IMP, is driving things now, which makes a lot of sense given that a lot of these bands have played one of their venues in the last few years.

IMP has a lot of pull, arguably more than the current alt rock station in DC (tho the station pulled JEW and Spoon onto one bill for their Xmas show a few years back).

I think the bands who would’ve made the fest huge are either on their own tours in DC/Baltimore this year (Blink/Green Day), or are the current alt scene folks who are not the right nostalgia bait (Twenty One Pilots, Black Keys lol). There’s a larger gap in what is “alt” that hurts the fest, tho that’s not new news at all. Either way, IMP probably doesn’t talk much to those types of bands anyways.

Btw pretty wild that out of all of the nofx shows, nyc, which was announced a long time ago and is coming up in 3 weeks, still doesn't have any support announced.

Whats up with that

 

I think those are album plays right? Sold out fairly instantly so probably not necessarily motivation to pay for another big-ish opener.
