tbh: I wasn’t planning on sticking around all that much longer because of how the conversation has been lately but the two of you give me hope. both pretty open minded and forward thinking music listeners, which this group needs

damn I didn't realize this thread was in a rut when I joined haha. I thought the list of albums previously selected seemed dope and expansive. I havent gone through all the pages to follow the discussion though. but yeah man, I love trying to expand my palette. I may not love everything but I'm always down to give it a shot. appreciate the appreciation! you are appreciated as well!

word. I don’t at all mean to talk any shit because there have been some incredible albums chosen but I just hope for better exchanges I guess than “I didn’t like it” which tbf: I have done myself a couple of times. I just want this to be a group that ultimately tries to introduce people to music instead of a snob competition (which it’s kinda bad with me of all people saying that) but i think most all of us have our heads in the right place. It’s in no way a big deal, just wanna keep it pure y’know

  9. First track is beautiful and catchy, second track kinda haunting but groovy (I use this word a lot). Second track is also reminding me of a specific Talking Heads song that I'm not placing because I smoke too much weed.

  10. Really great record. Those first two tracks are definitely the standouts but Children Crying, Sodom & Gomorrow, Ark of the Covenant and Solid Foundation are also notably great. Good looks on this one

Children Crying is stellar. that was the one that initially made it click for me

very strong midsection to this album but also bookended. and it's only growing on me. I could praise it more but that's sort of redundant bc I chose the record lolz.

    glad you dig it!

the more something isn’t shared in here, the more it feels like it should be—at least to me

we’re coming to a place where noise records, ambient ones, female fronted ones, hip hip-centric ones and lots of others should be added tbh. nothing should be forced at all but it’s been a little bit basic lately imo. my next pick might shake that up tho

similar vibes, also produced by Lee Scratch Perry, and also fronted by the dude in Dadawah. this one is a little more tripped out and each track progressively gets more hypnotic. the last track is a weirdo interpolation of London Bridge is Falling Down completely battered in reverb

I loved it! Blasted on sunday while watching the boxing.
Fisherman was on the reggie playlist at my old gym, the coach used to put it on for sparring to get us in a rhythm

  23. I LOVE that thing it’s so cool. And yeah that’s how I got into the Hallelujah Chicken Run Band, someone was like this is the shit Paul Simon was ripping off, and I guess the guy from that band Thomas Mapfumo remained a big figure in the genre

Loving it. That Hallelujah Chicken Run Band album was incredible. Cool to have another genre to explore.

One of these sounded like a Battles song (anyone remember that band?)

it’s been dope getting into this now bc I’m actually going on a trip to South Africa next month with my wife’s fam
