My heart is saying let’s go but my body’s saying nooooooo stay home and finish season 4 of the sopranos and make steak

 

as a man of culture you kind of have to go to dc open mic night

 

I know how this goes

 

More importantly, as a man trying to sell at least 50 tickets to every Terrain show lol

 

What, me doing the opposite of all the advice I just asked for lmao

Or at least doing what you were gonna do anyway

 

It’s a tough dilemma for me because half my friends are like “no one needs to go THIS hard to promote local shows, you’re 33 give yourself some rest”. And they ain’t wrong

but I actively see how much people respond to my hustle and want to support me more because I’m really about it… and because I don’t consider myself above staying approachable and doing the open mic level community building shit that young artists do

 

Nah people pay attention when you go that hard at it

It's just whether or not the open mics are the way (especially if it's a place you regularly play), feel like it may be good to diversify your advertisement

But it's probably still worth it to play, it's better than not

 

Too many bands get “too cool” for open mic and expect to just post a flyer and that means 100 people are coming but you have to be a pretty big band for that to work like that haha. I see a lot of bands lose out on momentum and go back to drawing 30 people at shows because they fall out of love with the promo grind and stop being so visible to / connecting with the people that used to come to every show

Alright with 5 minutes left to decide to catch the bus I’ve chosen to go to DC open mic cause it’s too hot out for steak grilling anyway

and also cause Dustin actually encouraged me to go and I wanna listen to my friend’s advice this time

On da 6:10 bus, to get to the 6:40 train,to get to DC by 7:30, to get to the sign-up by 8

I think I’ll take metro from the train station to the open mic area this time

 

tonight may the crowd be DAZZLED and tatum get that chip

 

It's the only sport that, without fail, everyone in the room just shuts up and is glued to the TV.
