Idk I'm weird. I managed to beat the first 3 temples and get the master sword in the first week but haven't played TOTK since. Currently on my third play through of BOTW and it hasn't gotten old for me yet haha

Totally fair. I usually hate it too but I feel like those two games are pretty good at making it easy to find replacements where it isn't really an issue for me

BOTW is super annoying getting new arrows all the time though. Totk is great with how many you can just find in crates and shit. Finding bomb flowers is annoying though so it's a trade off

I hated it too but for real you get so used to it. I absolutely hated it at first and now its just another part of the game for me I don't even think about it.

If you want to play both Zelda games, definitely do BOTW first because I imagine going back to it after TOTK would hurt it quite a bit.

I also found the difficulty level between temples to be so weird and vastly different from each other in totk

Water Temple is super easy and can be beaten in like 10-15 minutes. Wind temple also pretty easy but the journey there is a blast. Fire temple jumps up like 10 difficulty levels from those two

Yeah?? I've never really had anyone sell me the game like that, I've never heard anyone say it's barely a thing or that finding replacements isn't too much of an issue. I've played every Zelda except these two, I was originally hyped but the reveal at weapon degradation was just mehhhhh for me. Hearing what both of you said paints it in a different light though and is making me reconsider them!

Yeah dude for real I think me and you have very similar taste in what we like and weapon degradation is among the biggest pet peeves of mine in games. I would say TOTK did make it better by adding a fuse option where you can fuse things to shitty weapons that make them strong. Both games though you will almost never run out of weapons, you will be doing a lot of swapping and stuff but it really just becomes normal after a bit.

Finding really good weapons in botw becomes so much easier when you realize you can just raid Hyrule castle after every red moon

That eases my worry lol, the only game I really play that kinda has a weapon degradation system is the Yakuza series, and even then it's like, well if I don't have any weapons I can ALWAYS use my fighting skills because it's the MAIN system in the game! Whereas I was always of the mind like, if I don't have any sword uses or backup swords or ANY weapons.....am I fucked? Lol because link isn't gonna brawl, so I was always worried they were limited and I'd back myself in a corner.

The way they do it is like pretty much any enemy you kill will drop a weapon. I can't say 100% of the time because i'm not sure but like its gotta be like 99.5% of the time lol.

The weapon system in totk is amazing I absolutely loved it and never felt like I needed to go find weapons the materials to fuse together shit are always lying around or in your inventory so it’s not a scarcity issue

Just play Tears Of The Kingdom.

BOTW is totally unnecessary to play now that there's a better version of it essentially.

Player’s Log: I now have all 8 party members and played their chapter one’s and Osvald’s two. I’m grinding a bit before going to the next person’s chapter two. So far, the best person to always have in the party is Osvald, so he can “analyze” weaknesses and I don’t have to do process of elimination whenever I encounter a new enemy. And to have Agnea “entreat” everyone in a new town at night for free items and gear.

I did and when I eventually play BOTW, I'll look at it as a prequel and explore it from that viewpoint. You say callback? I say callforward.

Honestly, I hate that too, and it's one of the things that put me off playing BOTW, because I hate micromanagement in games, but like others have said here, it becomes something you get accustomed to, and it really isn't that bad.

The issue for me ultimately became just finding and keeping the base I wanted, because I prefer a certain fighting style and the right stick for a spear isn't always handy, but actually finding the parts for a weapon is easy peasy.

You'll hit a point where you'll never want for monster parts to attach if you're diligent in your exploration and take the time to fight everything you can. And base weapons are typically just a stone's throw away.

Yeah, micromanaging stuff is always something I tend to avoid cuz I usually just wanna chill and I've always seen it as not fun but this thread and y'all have opened my eyes to the two Zeldas!

Links Awakening is actually the first Zelda I ever played, I had a Gameboy before I ever had a SNES or NES. Lots of good memories there and the remaster did it justice. Good memories there.

where the Pikmin fans at??? if you're getting a Switch, Pikmin is a great series to grab imo, the 1+2 bundle is pretty good value too. Then if you enjoy them, 3 is also a great game, and by all accounts 4 is easily the best in the series.
