When I was a kid, I thought ambulance services were funded by taxes like the fire and police departments and it was a free service. How wrong I was.

 

Yeah my mom fell on her bike and broke both of her wrists, and she had to yell at people who saw it trying to help not to call 911, because an ambulance would come out. She thugged it out and waited for my dad to pick her up and take her to the ER instead.

 

The first time I was in a car accident (solo crash, no injuries at all) and I immediately called 911 to report it and distinctly said "do not call an ambulance, I am fine" because I didn't want to be billed for something I didn't need.

 

Last time I went to the ER ( Really bad Facial Cellulitis and 103 degree fever. They put me on IV antibiotics for 2 days ) I actually took an uber and had them drop me off right in front of the emergency entrance lol
