I think he's about an equal draw live TBH. He's got significantly more listeners but in terms of how many people would actively pay money to see him versus Foo Fighters? I think it's about the same or pretty close. Anybody with a bunch of Top 40 hits under their belt is going to skew higher from a streaming perspective. But that doesn't mean all 75 million of those people are going to want to pay money to see them live.

My thinking is based on the fact that they've both headlined Boston Calling in the past five years (40k; about the same size as Riot) and neither sold out their day. There's other factors too that could make it an impossibility (e.g., demand and interest shifts/changes every year; Eminem tours way less frequently so demand and cost is probably higher, Em may just literally be wanting to do his own thing so wouldn't bother).

But I don't think it's unreasonable at all to speculate and think of him as an option. Especially if the other headliners are on the smaller tip. It is less likely than most other options. But not out of the realm of possibility, I don't think.

Definitely more likely if we're talking odds. I'd much prefer a smaller set of headliners with a really, really strong undercard too.

But part of me has a feeling like Riot might swing for the fences a bit with something. The line-up delay and dual announcements next week is what's got me thinking this...

I guess it would. But it would be a later booking, no? I mean, I guess if somebody dropped out it could make sense...

All I'm getting out of these conversations is that nobody has any idea what's happening and we're all probably at least 50% wrong.

What about something similar to Saturday last year with three lower tier headliners back to back? I am specifically thinking The Strokes, Pavement, and then [insert third older act who couldn’t quite headline on their own. St. Vincent could go here. Hole could go here.]

I think Beck could fill a nice spot in there. I would think The Strokes are bigger than him

Looks like Boys Night Out might be maybe in the mix? Kinda makes me feel like that post was a bit of a "we know people are gonna be into it" sorta thing? LOL

  6. I kind of feel like there's no way they would get a "no, fuck off" response from fans especially considering it's the frontman and he has the blessing of the rest of the band. If they play this year, that's another big one to finally check off the list for me, along with Something Corporate.

Yeah, in hindsight that post was pretty low risk. Hah. I really hope they play... They were always fantastic back in the day. And it wasn't at all uncommon for them to completely blow whoever they played with off the stage.

Usually that wasn't a hard feat but I definitely saw them do that to My Chemical Romance once which was a tricky thing to do at the time. Haha.

I don’t think q101 has mentioned anything about having them on air on Wednesday. So now I think I do lean towards it being a punk in Drublic announcement followed by the rest of the lineup. With the roots of being a punk festival, it would make sense to want to give NoFX time to shine before being overshadowed by the headliners and the rest of the lineup.

But in reality, the announcement is probably something that none of us have thought of.

If it is a “Punk in Drublic” announcement I hope it’s an additional stage and not one of the five.

Also, I’m not even a NOFX fan, but I’d be excited if that is the case because that means Riot will have quite a few really solid undercard punk acts.

I feel like we already have a stage worth of bands that are playing other Punk in Drublic dates. It is possible that they are playing different stages, but I kind of hope not because I am hoping for multiple NoFX sets. So far we already know Descendents, Circle Jerks (probably?), The Buzzcocks, and Face to Face.

    The Dickies too...

Where/how was Face to Face confirmed? I feel like I missed that one... Or I'm just forgetting. Been a whirlwind! I also keep forgetting that New Found Glory is super likely.

Curated stages for NOFX if they play more than one day would be really cool.

Aside from the ones you mentioned, Laura Jane Grace could be on that stage. I can’t find material sources at the moment, but The Dickies and DOA are pretty much confirmed. Those two would fit earlier in the day on a “NOFX stage”.

I don’t remember who it was, but someone here said they went to a F2F show in Chicago a few weeks back and Trevor said “we’ll see you all real soon,” or something like that. I think?

Oh yeah, I meant to list the Dickies. Completely forgot about DOA. I was at the last Face to Face show and I was pretty sure he said they would be back in September. Then I saw someone post t on Reddit, so I confirmed that I thought that I heard the same thing.

also, one of the members of Bad Religion said that we see them soon, so they could be a possibility, but I wouldn’t call them a sure thing like all of those others.

Since that co-headliner with SD is finished, I think BR could be in the mix now. Personally I’m kind of surprised they haven’t been on any of the NOFX 40-year shows yet

Social D is already playing shows the weekend of Riot. And I’m not saying that Bad Religion was definitely hinting or anything. I was just saying that they could have been.

Q101 could be waiting to announce this until Tuesday. Would be good synergy to have Q101 post about "Riot Fest Announcement Eve" or whatever and to tell people Mike will be on the morning show the next day at (insert time here). But who knows. They could also be swithcing it up this year.

It does look like Q101 will be doing a bunch of ticket give-aways on Thursday though.

I forgot about that Face to Face thing! Riot typically has 5-6 bands/day on each stage. There's so many different ways it could go, though, depending on whether or not NOFX plays one day, two days, or all three. Hah.

Looking at the bands that are in play there's at least two that would be direct support (Descendents, Circle Jerks; three if you count Bad Religion) and two that would be shoe-ins for later in the day sets (Buzzcocks, Face to Face). The Dickies and D.O.A. could be early afternoon.

So I think there's a full stage's worth of options but I don't think we should bank on getting all of those acts unless it's a multi-day thing. Because I would think/hope that they get another Fat band or two on there earlier in the day...

Some of these bands could also just go straight over to Rebel (and Descendents or Buzzcocks could work with Sum-41 too).

I think I am also just trying to manifest multiple days because it would feel pretty underwhelming if Chicago only gets one festival set for NoFX’s last tour because we have Riot Fest.

Is it possible they do a NOFX Thursday preshow like they did in 2021?

Someone on Reddit says that Strung Out said they were playing at their show tonight. So add another band that has played one of NoFX’s finals shows.

All these bands who were previously "out" now being "in" because of the line-up release date being later than usual making fools of us.
