Don’t really have much to play so figured Dragon Age was a good bet.

I’ll probably cook a new Starfield save in a few weeks once the Skyrim gods start pumping out mods on creation kit.

 

You aren’t engaging with what I said at all though. What is dragon age?? If you go off origins and 2 its the most generic dark fantasy world you could imagine. Inquisition is dragon age because it’s actually a distinct art style with its own identity. Origins and 2 have no identity of its own. I don’t even know what you’re arguing. You can’t just say I’m wrong and you’re right without even explaining why lol.

Player's Log: Meg's Monster

This is such an adorable and wholesome game and I love it.

So the gameplay hook works like this: as I said previously, the protagonist Roy is a tank who can't really be hurt. Meg on the other hand, since Roy is protecting her, gets upset seeing him be hurt, and her meter is the real problem, because if it goes to zero, she'll start crying and end the world.

As the game goes on, you get toys, and these can be used to make Meg happy again and provide stat bonuses for her and Roy, but you can only use each toy once per battle, so it becomes a bit more strategic, knowing when to use the toys and when to just guard or do something else.

That said, I'm not sure you can even really fail a battle since I've run out of toys a couple times and Roy's friend just ends up doing something funny to make Meg happy again, although that may also be a once-per-battle thing, I haven't had an opportunity to find out.

I'll also say this isn't like a typical RPG where there are random battles or even normal enemy encounters. All the fights in the game so far have been story-driven, which makes sense, because that seems like Odencat's MO.

All the Odencat games I've played, whether it be the cooking of Bear's Restaurant, the fishing of Fishing Paradiso, or the puzzles of Snowman Story, have really only treated their game mechanics like a backdrop for telling the tale they want to tell, and I think that's great, because these stories have been really entertaining and wholesome.

 

the idea that no one could possibly live up to mick gordon is really bizarre to me like I said he did great work and fuck bethesda for what went down but I would love for the new composers to absolutely knock it out of the park and would much prefer to approach in that way rather than already set myself up for failure because some guy I don’t actually personally know isn’t working on it

I was thinking about going scorched earth on this response but a little self control never hurt anyone. I'll respond in good faith.

If you wanna simplify Dragon Age Origins and 2 down to "generic dark fantasy", you can do that but that's not really an argument. Inquisition is a lame marvel knock off. See, I can do it too. The first game in any franchise is really what defines the style and tone of it going forward. DA:I looks nothing like Origins, so it doesn't look like Dragon Age. Maybe you hate what the original looks like. Fair enough. But that's what the look of Dragon Age is regardless. And yes, saying those games have no identity is nonsense.

 

I remember being like 9 and seeing the video for Breathe and it blew my mind.
