Can’t stand the Doors

 

terrible, horrendous band. imagine being such a geek that you think starting a band where the bass is played with keys is a good idea

 

I simply think the doors are way way way worse than everything you listed

 

Touch Me is a dope song

 

I just think it’s insane to deny their best songs as being any good. They have multiple excellent rock songs and at least one “classic” album. I just realized they have more records than I knew so I can’t speak to the worst of the worst lol. I’m sure it is bad.

 

They have a lot of dope songs!

 

I’m not a diehard or anything, but I’ve never encountered a thoughtful anti-doors take

 

That’s where I’m at. They will never be a favorite band of mine, but I can appreciate that they made some very good tracks and at least one good album. All the negative takes in here have been reactionary

Doors have some absolute classic songs and the surviving members still make great music I just hate the sound of the actual band so much

 

one time at a hop along show i was at frances went on a rant about how much they hate jim morrison. that was pretty funny.

 

The Doors are one of my dad's favorite bands so I was shocked to learn how hated they are haha

I agree that Jim Morrison would suck so much if he was still alive but so would John Lennon and so many dudes from that era

 

I have soft spot for The Doors but some records are full of absolute classic songs for me (LA Woman) and others are actual dogshit (Soft Parade) there is no in between

 

overall the Doors position in culture is fine to me, there’s no reason young people should look at Jim Morrison and do anything but laugh but also those songs get played and covered enough that it’s not like they’re lost in the mocking

 

once again echoing an earlier bad opinion of mine. any bands that start with 'The' are automatically uninteresting to me and therefore bad

The Killers Doors Strokes Smiths Kinks Clash White Stripes etc etc who cares

 

Kinks and Clash clear the rest of those imo

 

I like all those bands to a degree but yeah the Clash and Kinks are in their own tier.

 

Saw that Miley quote going around on twitter and I agree with this take. There’s not a single year where she had the best song or album out lol

 

Yes, but the Grammys also don't tend to recognize the best song or album either.

 

"Flowers" is one of the most boring songs in recent memory to dominate the charts. I don't even hate it, but there is absolutely nothing to grab onto in that song that is interesting in any way. I liked Plastic Hearts a lot and wish that one of those songs had caught on the way "Flowers" did. Gimme "High" on the radio for months instead, a vastly superior breakup song.

 

All awards in all creative fields are dumb and not worth taking seriously imo. It’s fun when they spotlight something/someone under-appreciated, but they’re still a net negative to me, personally.

 

My only connection/reference to the Doors is Wayne’s World 2

 

The Doors were once rated too highly as an elite all-time rock band. They're not. Then everyone pushed back too hard and said they suck. They don't. They're a good rock band with a lot of good songs.

Jim Morrison was once held as an insightful rock poet. He's not. Now people pretend he's a bad lead singer. He's not. He's an often very good blues-rock frontman.

Can we just be fuckin' normal?
