That's true housingwise but that's happening pretty much everywhere. I'll take the lower sales tax and no state income tax for now though haha

 

I think my band definitely can attract punk and hardcore and emo fans who are used to listening to albums / seeing live bands where the vocals are hit or miss, and untrained, raw, aggressive voices are common

but we’d cast a much wider net and be less niche if I was a better vocalist. I’m capable of being a quality vocalist on my best days when I can hear myself great and when the band isn’t rushing the song because it’s fun to play fast… but that’s very inconsistent, I’d like that to be every day.

Getting vocal lessons would help that and would refine my potential overall. IEM’s would help me be “on” consistently during show day, and not have an off song here and there cause a slightly flat guitar string, or playing too fast, or not being able to hear one of my amps is throwing me off. Focusing on vocals / songwriting more, and making sure the instrumental details highlight the vocals rather than the other way around on future albums, should help that too.

I think that’s great you’re self-assessing this. So many bands are content with the same ho-hum vocals that could elevate the band so much more if they became more consistent with pitch and ability.
