so i've clearly missed something, why would kickers be more involved in tackling? did they move the kickoff spot back? i mean we barely have returns as is unless the kicker is massively shit at their job

 

Like, obviously if you have a safety who can also kick the football a bit that's smart and a good idea. But it's May Josh.

yes, kickoff returns will be entirely different starting this year to encourage more returns. I don't remember the exact rules but the thought is that we may see returns set up more like run-blocking schemes

no, actually, the data from the years of it being used in the xfl show way less concussions

 

the inevitable difficulty of rooting for a team and that team having cancerous players. tho this one particular team seems to have or have had a bit more than normal

 

interesting. didn't really know the xfl played long enough for there to be useful data to pull from it.

 

who else besides butker and hill were problematic or troublesome during their time with the chiefs? feel like we're making it sound like the chiefs hired the entire group of guys who planned 9/11. am i misremembering guys? lol

 

yeah there was a video from when they approved it that had some numbers, something like 60% of kickoffs in the former setup weren't even returned, and the XFL's injury numbers are way down - I think the kicking team can't get a running headstart down the field basically

linebacker Willie Gay had a domestic thing 2 years ago and was suspended part way through the 2022 season I think (something about picking up and throwing a vacuum in front of his kid and their mother, maybe?)

they signed Charles Omenihu before 2023 from the 49ers and he had a domestic violence issue as well in SF

 

They've had a bit of an offseason this year between Rice and Butker and a few guys getting arrested for dumb weed things.

It's no different than really any other team.

 

will this change be more entertaining to fans or just be more safe? (I know i could look this up, but you clearly paid attention so i'll just keep pestering you)

 

I think Andy Reid specifically has a long history of bringing in guys with character issues (Mike Vick first comes to mind from his Philly days)
