At minimum. I’m trying to watch it more regularly tbh. But yeah it’s an absolute must in the fall

I think I read one on a lawsuit that was filed? I don’t know what “the actual” article means

Watched Ringu, think the US version does it better but it's interesting to see both

Also Night of the Hunter, which is creepy as hell for a movie that old.

Watched When Evil Lurks the same day, not knowing they take polar opposite stances on the innocence of children.

Like the article with the actual claims the person made. I’m not saying it didn’t happen, it’s just that everything seemed so exaggerated when I read it. I was just curious if I was the only one that got weird vibes from it. Not trying to disagree or anything, just wanted to genuinely ask.

  9. I remember reading the article and not feeling as though the circumstances were any less believable than any of the other dozens of articles we see a month about famous people being assholes behind closed doors. At the very least I believe the actor was kicked by her and she didn’t even stop to be like “dude I’m sorry”

  10. Coincidentally I did finally watch Pearl last night lol. I didn’t care for X much at all but I think I loved this one and now I’m excited for Maxxxine

Yeah I don’t really doubt that someone married to Shia might behave that way. It was just the her following him into a bathroom to mock him and stuff that seemed kinda odd to me. So I just wanted to see what others thought because I feel like a lot of people just read the headline or a tweet and ran with it. Again not saying she didn’t do it, the actual quoted claims just came across like one of those exaggerated stories that one kid in school that lied about everything would say with over the top details.

He filed a lawsuit which subjects him as the less wealthy and powerful party to discovery and perjury. You can say that it also shows he’s going for a money grab but the statistics don’t bear that out because in a court setting the less wealthy party is at a huge disadvantage even if they are telling the truth. That said if it did happen it sounds like there should be witnesses and maybe even footage, so if it doesn’t settle she has a chance to prove it didn’t happen. The kick is one thing which is bad enough but the allegations about mocking him after would show it wasn’t some kind of in the moment scene thing. Anyway being supportive of Shia after everything probably isn’t a good sign either.

  13. Never really know what "showing support" means after someone is outed as an abuser or where the line should be. If we truly want to believe become can become better, they need some level of support. That doesn't mean advocating for their innocence or anything, but a person with friends or family to hold them accountable moving forward seems much more likely to actually put in the work and change as opposed to someone who loses nearly all of their personal relationships

All this to say, I don't really think it's fair to assess an abuser's friends or family after the fact unless they are publicly advocating for that person's re-platforming or something. The kick, if it did happen, is a totally different story

I think it’s fair to call out supporting abusers particularly ones like Shia that never really take accountability and have done multiple offenses. She came back to him after everything came out, so it’s not like she just stuck by him. But I think he’s kind of said he was abusive to her too so maybe that played a role, so it might be a bit more sensitive than the usual “I’ve known him for years he’s been nothing but kind to me” bullshit support

I hated World's Fair and really liked TV Glow. They're similar thematically probably more than anything, but the budget and vibes and look of TV glow really did it for me.

Hoping I Saw the TV Glow shows up here this week or I’m gonna have to wait for the digital release I’m afraid. Feel like In a Violent Nature is gonna end up going the same way for me

    :(

  24. TV Glow is definitely more lively than World's Fair, but I came around on World's Fair on second viewing when I had a better idea of what I was in for. It's funny, after TV Glow some friends were like "There were a lot of long shots just kind of held on people's faces" and I was like that's nothing in comparison lol

  25. Yeah Candyman is still one of the best of the 90s, no question. Virginia Madsen is the hottest a woman has ever been in that movie (and I don't usually get horny on this site lmao)
