17 years later, action RPG Steambot Chronicles still has scope to impress with its eclectic mix of robots, music and a dash of Vanilla

I woke up thinking about this game today and really hate there’s basically no way to play it anymore. Spent so many hours in it. What a time.

 

I think you could replicate the djent elements of Gordon's scores but how he sprinkled in the electronic elements felt pretty unique to me and I don't think we'll get something close to BFG Division with someone else

They are better off going in a completely new direction

 

Idk electronic djent is kind of everywhere these days not sure how unique it is anymore. 2016 yeah it was wild but today? Better off with a new direction anyway

 

Player’s Log:
I had a family tragedy this weekend (I posted about it in another thread and don’t want to have a pity party here), so I needed something happier than Assassin’s Creed: Origins, especially because of the character’s backstory. I started Hi-Fi Rush. I know I sound like a broken record with all its praise, but I like it so far. I normally don’t like rhythm games, since I’m terrible at them. I love music, but I have no sense of rhythm myself. Luckily, you can still play this as an action game, but you won’t get bonuses if you miss the beats. The beats are still easy to get though. The vibes, humor, and protagonist remind me a lot of Ratchet and Clank. The deluxe edition was on sale :)

I think I have to admit to myself that I just don’t like hi fi rush and I can’t even tell you why.

objectively it’s incredible but I don’t wanna play it ever.

 

Yeah I don’t really have any desire to play a rhythm based game with fighting mechanics lol

 

rhythm games are fun. obligatory chance to plug thumper. pretty sure the bassist of lightning bolt made that game. it’s fucking sick

 

I like the idea of rhythm games but suck at them so

Yeah I don’t like it and I feel bad about that because I also didn’t want the studio to shut down after it or anything lmao, just wasn’t for me

 

I have to emphasize the rhythm element is very light, it's not a Crypt of the Necrodancer

 

I liked the world/setting/characters of Hi Fi Rush but found the combat to be lacking. Still enjoyed it overall

 

That’s a big part of it for me

 

I would say it’s an action game with some rhythm mechanics

 

Ken Andrews should score Doom. Bliss out to indie space rock while I chainsaw a guy in the face.

 

long form YouTube content plus gaming is my new favorite thing

need those deep dives on Disney rides or some dude surviving Alaskan cold while I play Fortnite or Dave the Diver

 

random thought now that rhythm games have been brought up but kingdom hearts melody of memory being the only native KH game on switch is so fucking funny to me
