I just think it is so telling that people are willing to continue to give Chris a platform even after the disgusting things he did and said about women.

There's a reason why cancel culture isn't really a thing because people still support.

They were my absolute, no doubt in my mind, favorite band growing up and it fucking sucks that this is what has happened.

  3. I don’t know, man. It’s always hard to decide. I have no interest in chatting up Chris or shaking his hand. But I’m going to go and listen to those songs. That’s where it starts and ends.

I don’t remember Chris saying anything disgusting about women. I remember the situation that got him in trouble was that he pursued a relationship with an adult male fan whom he knew since the fan was 12.

Then there were all the very private text messages and screenshots that showed Chris was being very shitty to this person, and keeping timers to make sure they were responding fast enough for him.

It was certainly not enough to make me stop listening to Saves or seeing them live. Chris was way out of line in a private relationship of his. That’s not my business.

  6. Eh, someone coming forward publicly about being groomed and abused is kind of our business as consumers with the choice to financially support or not support a band tbh. Just my two cents.

Absolutely mindboggling the hoops that people will jump through in order to not have to reckon with the fact that their continued support of toxic musicians has serious consequences. Gold medal mental gymnastics. No wonder people are scared to come out with these stories.

He talked about how "bitches just want dick" and how because of being a rockstar he can get any woman he wants.

I'm very sympathetic to the fact he has a drinking problem and mental health issues. People in my family are alcoholics and I know (from the outside) how trying that can be, but the idea of supporting someone who instead of doing the work they needed to do to become a better person they openly harassed someone, sent them dick pics and spouts misogynistic bullshit is just crazy to me.

Everyone can change and I hope he has done a lot of work since all this happened. People can get better and be better, but I don't necessarily think they deserve a platform or to be supported.

He also just swept it under the rug and played shows like a year after this all came out. So it's really hard to say where he's at or what kind of person he is.

That’s wild. I only know their first EP and this album that they’re touring. Not a single thing newer than those. I like em both though!

i remember on this tour in Chicago, Chris finished his set with like 30 minutes of distortion on guitar, it was super awkward and cringey, we were all like uhhhh, reggie could've gotten a longer set LOL

reggie came out and was like under the tray is 40 minutes long but we only got a half hour set so here we go!
they platyed Your Bleedin' Heart into Congratulations Smack & Katy and then just other songs..

say anything was the best of the night for sure. im not even a big SA fan but i was impressed how good they sounded that night.

I’m still kinda shocked Buddy agreed to this tour. Is he still active on social media? I feel like he would call out bands that pulled this stuff.

  20. I saw that Say Anything/Saves the Day/Reggie tour in Cleveland. Reggie's backing band was Pentimentio, who later had not great things to say about their experience with him or Max (their set was fun though). Saves the Day was brutal. Chris lit incense on stage and just strummed his guitar a lot in between songs and it felt like their set would never end. I say that as someone who was a fan at the time. My brother and I still joke about it. Say Anything's set was solid. Fun memory, insane to look back on for sure.

Haha I remember the incense shows. I thought it was cool at the time cause I’d heard stories at the time of their shows going off the rails or getting jam band status, and I had only seen a buttoned-up polished version of them during the dozen or so shows I’d seen before. Arun shreds so getting to see them jam out that time was cool. But their sober(ish) shows were better for sure. I think that was around the time Chris got divorced, got a dui, and cancelled the two tongues tour right after for personal reasons.

I’ve seen Saves The Day more times live than any other band, and I remember that era well.

I’m happy to say that the last two times I saw them (most recently with Finch last year), they weren’t doing any jams sessions or incense burning. Just a shit ton of songs played tighter than they had been in the past.

Never seen std live, but always think about that video of Chris’s absolute meltdown on stage and Matt Pryor attempting to calm him down

I was at the Philly date of that tour! It was a Where’s The Band acoustic tour, and Chris was mad that the crowd talked over Matt’s daughter playing and singing.

Same shit happened in Philly. The song was really nice, but people wouldn’t shut the hell up to listen.

  25. Last time I saw STD was 2018 or 2019 with Joyce Manor I think?? STD was well rehearsed and had a tight set. Really tiny crowd though.
