There are writeups if you go to the landing page and click on an album. Here's the Born to Run one: Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen

Real talk, it's one of the few albums on the list I can actually comment on.

honestly none of your choices are too baffling, so im thinking youve gotta be at least half off on these

    LOL

The thing with this list is that it will be like 10 albums that make total sense to be on a list like this, but they'll be in weird spots, and then you'll have some album from like two years ago outranking massively important classics. So, by that logic, maybe I needed to dump a Harry's House in there or something.

Seems they are doing 1 album per artist thus far - and if that holds true they blew it by putting a Beatles album at 21 and not in the top 10

I love I Put a Spell on You, but to have that over Sings the Blues and High Priestess of Soul is bonkers.

Rihanna's Anti, while a good album, belongs nowhere near this list, especially not ONE slot behind fucking A Love Supreme

Billie Eilish 21 spots ahead of Sign O the Times is going to make me put my head in the oven

Swift's worst re-record at #18 invalidates the whole endeavor

Based on this list so far Kacey Musgraves has the best country album of all time.

  10. Nah Ok Computer is in the 20 so they aren’t doing that

    this is all there is

I stand firmly in my opinion that an album should be at least 10 years old before remotely being considered for a list like this, and preferably even older. Of course incredible music is still being made, but recency bias is real and a lot of times it feels like they're just throwing things in for the publicity/discourse.

1989 Taylor’s version is absolutely not her best work, let alone the 18th best album of all time lol

Aside from inaccurately betting on Rumours as their number 1, I was pretty on point here.

Rumours, What's Going On, Pet Sounds - all albums I would have bet would make it into the top 10. What are they cooking

I could make my peace with 1989 ranking that high based on the interior logic of this list, even if I disagree. Making it the Taylor’s Version just feels like a bridge too far, and exposes the pandering nature of this exercise more than anything else they've done so far. Just a craven "We don't want stans to get mad at us for telling people to stream the real album."

Anti feels like it gets a boost because there's been no new Rihanna album since then. There's often a tax on these lists for artists who 1. continue to be active, and 2. continue to be alive.

this list has taken years off my life. 1989 and Billie eilish debut being where they are or on the list at all is just batshit. Also I don’t think 21 is a very good album at all outside of the singles how did it land there. Wild shit.

the worst part of 1989 is that is Taylor’s version which is so sterile compared to the original it hurts

  23. Craig Manning

    @FurtherFromSky Moderator

I really like 21, but I've always gotten the sense that most people only care about the singles from that album and either skip the other songs or actively dislike them. The only reason for the high ranking seems to be "This album was massive."

They both have the same problem for me. 5-7 amazing songs, and some other stuff. I like 21 better, mostly because I think the hits are better.
