True, one has killed way more people than the other.

 

One regulatory thing I could definitely get behind with alcohol has to do with grocery stores. As someone who has struggled with drinking for my entire adult life, I do not need to walk past an entire aisle of cheap booze every time I get groceries lol, when chances are there’s an entire liquor store across the street if not next door to the grocery store anyways

p.s. booze companies make the majority of their money off of addicts and that should upset all of us deeply

 

So this actually used to be illegal in Colorado until 2/3 years ago. Grocery stores could not sell liquor and could only have beer below 3.2% ABV. It was voted on and somehow passed to make it legal, because I guess people are too lazy to walk *literally right next door* to the liquor store that is next to EVERY GROCERY STORE

 

oklahoma also very recently changed that law

 

Up until like 8 or so years ago you could only buy wine or liquor at the state store and beer at beer distributors in PA and it sucked shit. Grocery stores and gas stations can now sell beer and wine (in limited quantities).

 

I actually ordered delivery from Red Lobster multiple times during Covid. I don't regret it!

 

sometimes its nice to be able to grab a six pack w groceries and only wait in line once. but i see the merit of the predatory argument.

at the very least maybe there should be an overhaul w how booze is marketed/advertised literally everywhere, kind of like the gambling thing.

at this point im used to pas dumb laws. my nanny state grief is more to do w the shitty selection at state stores and open container laws

Basically no grocery stores sell alcohol in NJ so I often forget that that isn't the norm in most states

 

guess you missed the end where I noted I was being sarcastic

 

better access to education and treatment on substance abuse is the answer to alcoholism not tighter regulations. you can buy alcohol pretty much anywhere here I think gas stations sometimes won’t sell from like 2 am to 7 or something like that but I think it’s about as regulated as it should be

 

The gas station company I work for doesn’t sell any alcohol after midnight

Also can only get alcohol in liquor stores here, grocery stores and convenience stores can't sell beer or liquor or wine.

Red Lobster actually used to have pretty good wings back in the day. They got rid of them off of their menu as far as I could tell the last time I looked
