i respect the parents who can toe the line of letting their kids experiment with drugs and alcohol safely without trying to make the kids think they’re cool for it. i feel like that’s an archetype, the dad whose like i’m the cool dad i let you smoke haha im cool right i’m not old. but no hes just old

 

I feel like my mom did an okay job at this. She would basically tell me constantly don't do anything stupid, don't drink, don't do drugs, etc. Like put the fear of god in me about if she caught me doing it. But then also would tell me that if I "needed a ride home" or "felt uncomfortable" to just call her so that she could come pick me up and I wouldn't drink and drive. Did a good job of balancing that out I think lol

But I really didn't drink much in HS to begin with probably because of that fear she put in me. I think I can count on 2 hands how many times I drank before high school graduation, if not 1. Probably 2.

 

I didn't drink until the summer after I graduated high school. But definitely smoked weed long before that haha.

Also did salvia a couple times in HS

 

I did magic mushrooms at my high school commencement practice. It was fun.

 

The one who bought us alcohol was the christian mom of a homeschooled friend

We’d drive to someone’ house during lunch to smoke. Many fond memories of being high as a kite in english class

I miss the smell of illegal weed and i miss being able to get proper stoned. I took a year break in 2020 and first time back was like full body high school high

 

In middle school there was a crew that’d drop acid on the bus in the morning

 

I didn't do shit in high school. Suffice to say I didn't have a robust social life as a result.

I drank some in college, but I can count on one hand the times I've have way too much to drink. Didn't smoke weed until it was legal in OR. Let's just say I'm not on anyone's speed dial if they're looking to have a good time.

There wasn't shit else to do in my town besides underage drink. Luckily one of our friends worked at the drive-thru dairy so we didn't have to beg anyone to get us beer.

There were two groups of kids in high school in my class, one that drank and one that smoked weed and while there was definitely overlap between them I mostly hung out with the kids who smoked weed. but there was another group made up of some of both that just played poker 5 days a week and I was part of that group til I went on tilt and threw my poker chips at someone after they made fun of me when my friends dad threw me a biscuit and it hit me in the head and he started calling me biscuit head. I was down like a hundred bucks and lost a big hand. Copped a six month ban from my friends basement.
