My guest on this week’s show will be Will Pugh.

Will is the singer of the band Cartel, and also releases music with the group TAURIDS.

I’ll be chatting with Will about the band’s latest releases “17” and “The End”, the recording of their self-titled record on MTV’s Band in a Bubble, performing on the Warped Tour Rewind and Emo’s Not Dead cruises, and more on this week’s show.

I’ll be spinning some choice tracks from Cartel’s discography, as well as a few tracks that feature guest vocals from Will—as well as a track by TAURIDS—along with an eclectic mix of genre adjacent music, both new and old.

Thanks to Will for coming on the show and for a great interview about the tunes.

Tune in at 7:00 PM this Saturday night on Planet Radio 106.7,
or listen anywhere on the planet—literally— with the app:

I need to sing Wasted live sooner than later. Do they even play that still? Anyways, it's a Cartel night on the Homepod.

Not bad - just very “one note”. Great mood/background music.

It actually is very solid in my opinion! It's just their aesthetic that I think they could work on a bit more, some of it seems pretty dated to me. Maybe I'm wrong, but it might be some of the details with this kind of music that could help bring it to the next level

Basically just a compilation unfortunately. Half of the songs are from the EP released 3 years ago, 2 recent singles, so just 3 new songs

Thank you - I had no idea this was the only version available. Interesting!

While we're on the topic, Collider (which somehow came out 11?! years ago) is so underrated. I love that record.

Was their decision to appear on this show considered to have been a potential factor in their career dropping off so quickly?

  18. The chapter in Where Are Your Boys Tonight about it is pretty enlightening.

So, the chances of the original Chroma getting a repress are essentially non existent. Sony wants mad money from the band to press it. That’s why they have re-recorded the album and will be pressing the new version. They’ll also being a 20 year Chroma tour next year.

The redone Chroma has a slight sequencing change, apparently what the band originally wanted. But record labels do things. Matter Of Time is between Settle Down and If I Fail.

also so weird to re-record albums that I still think sound incredible and can't imagine ever actually reaching for the "new" version. but maybe ill be surprised like TAITA

The idea of re-recording albums is cool, but I agree - these songs are ingrained in my memories for the last 20 years. It's always jarring to hear them sung differently on a re-recording (even if it's just a slight change) after all of that time.

I definitely think a re-recording of an album can be cool, but I think I'd want to hear it almost like a live session type of thing rather than "here is the album just re recorded" if that makes sense?
