    So excited for this!!!

Do we know what VIP tickets involve?

Also, was there ever a signed LP in their webstore? I only ever saw a signed CD.

New song's solid. Not blowing me away, but solid. I have no idea what to expect from this.

I've enjoyed every album they've put out except for that last one. What a huge piece of shit that was. But I felt it was more of a production and mixing issue than the band being totally cooked. I still think they have it in them to be great.

This new single is encouraging for me. It's good enough and seems like a step back in the right direction.

I'm kind of in the same boat, only WALLS was that album for me. The only song I even remember from that album was the live version of "Walls" from YouTube that wasn't even on the album. I thought the last one was decent and I actually throw it on from time to time. The last time I listened to it I remember thinking it had a few too many songs that were long & slow but still a pretty good album.

New song is really fun. Can't wait to hear the whole thing.

I can definitely see why people didn't enjoy When You See Yourself but it's one of my favorites. Right place, right time I guess?

WYSY just sounded monotone the whole way through. Need some energy in this new album. WALLS was good, I loved Mechanical Bull, and their peak albums are top tier. Hoping for something great.

If the album title is an indicator, I'm hoping for an evolution of their early records. I'd happily take a more mature Youth and Young Manhood / Aha Shake Heartbreak style record from them in a heartbeat.

I really liked Walls and still go back to it every now and then. Reverend was such a vibe for me. And Caleb sounded good and Matthew had some nice guitar riffs throughout that album. It’s not their best album, but it’s right there with Mechanical Bull for me.

The last album sounds like I’m listening to music coming from another room in the house. Why did they bury Caleb’s vocals in all that muddy bass sounding shit? God, I can’t get over it.

Anyways, I still respect your opinion although I don’t agree with it.

I just went back and listened to WALLS for the first time in years. Like I said earlier, I consider myself a huge fan of the band, but that album just isn't for me and I can't really articulate why. It definitely sounds like them, and it's got a lot of energy, which is probably what I think WYSY lacks the most. This time around though I genuinely loved "Reverend" & "Conversation Piece" - those are both fantastic songs. The rest just doesn't grab me at all. I don't think it is terrible or anything, although "Around The World" probably gets the closest, and I do wish the album version of "Walls" was more like the live version they played.

I don't think WYSY is great enough to try to defend from criticism or anything like that, and pretty much all of the critiques of it that I've heard absolutely are true, but something about the sound of the whole thing falls just this side of working for me, but I do wish it had a few more songs where they kicked it up a notch or twelve.

New single "Split Screen" dropped today. I love this song. It reminds me of those earlier vibey songs the band used to write that are almost aimless in nature.

The last single from the album, “Nothing to Do”, is releasing tonight. You can already hear it on Twitter if you dig around for it. It’s great, in my opinion. It’s a more aggressive song, a little punkier and catchier than “Mustang”.

I am REALLY looking forward to the album.

Edit: Hopefully this link works for now.

Not going to be able to listen until tomorrow, ugh. Hearing great things about this album though and that is has more "life" than WYSY. Looks like my record won't be here until next week.

This is a step up from WYSY for me, but definitely not hitting as hard as some of their previous efforts. A lot of the slower stuff is sounding too "samey" for me. Only one listen in, though, so I need to give it a fair shot. Some great songs on here for sure.

Pretty much my take on it too. Seems like the big singles this band puts out are getting smaller and the rest of the songs sound fairly similar.

Still, happy they're putting out new stuff.

This album is better than the last one, but still... they are really frustrating me. This was a pivotal album for them and they didn't really capitalize on the opportunity. Wish they'd scale back on this dreamy, adult contemporary arena sound and amp up the energy. Even the edgier rock songs on here have a subdued and restrained sound to them. I don't know how to describe it.

I think I'll always want them to actually cut loose and go nuts on an album every time they put something out, but I also know that the chances of that ever happening again are extremely slim. That being said, this album feels like they're trying harder than the last few, and they come close to flirting with their old sound a couple of times on here, at least musically. No crazy, incomprehensible screaming from Caleb though.

A lot of good songs on here and only one or two I wasn't crazy about. Opener is great, and the closer "Seen" is probably my favorite song they've done in well over a decade. Even the songs I didn't like a lot had interesting and enjoyable stuff in them, usually provided by Jared on bass. Dude is absolutely their MVP.

Whenever they start to build up a little bit, whether in an individual song or the album itself, I always do find myself anticipating / hoping for something that could fit on Because of the Times, and they never quite go there, which is a bummer because they sound like they still have it in them but they just don't seem interested in writing that type of song anymore.

I enjoy all of their albums, the earlier ones much moreso, but with their last couple it's never to the point where I feel like I can defend them to detractors and all of the criticism I've heard / read is usually valid. This is a solid album though.

Couldn't have said it better. I am enjoying this album more than the last two. While I think working with Kid Harpoon definitely revived something within their songwriting, I wish they'd ditch most of the synths and go back and work with Angelo Petraglia.

Does anyone remember how fresh their sound was when Because Of The Times came out? I had never heard any band like this. Perfect balance of folk, indie, and stadium rock. Seriously mind-blowing stuff for me back in 2007. Beginning to end that was such a fun album.

I remember thinking "Fans" should have blown up as a song the way "Sex On Fire" eventually would on the next album, and thinking it was crazy that it / they didn't at that time.

I think I've read interviews since then saying that Caleb didn't want to push that song (Fans) as a single because he didn't think it was a good representation of the album, and he felt similar with "Sex On Fire" the next time around too, but ultimately relented when basically everyone else was against him.
