Mesc! I’m teasing since it’s a common joke their tastes are for mid games.

 

When I first heard about the umbral world/lamp part of the game, I thought I'd hate it, but it was a really cool addition.

I feel like Lies of P story was really, really good. That cliffhanger ending was also the perfect set up for DLC (or a sequel). I think Lies of P was a little less "Souls like" in that I never really felt like I was getting lost in the world, whereas in a Souls game half the time I am like where the fuck am I?

 

Currently in the middle of another Dark Souls 3 playthrough...went strength/pyro (butcher knife master race)

Once that wraps up, debating between Rise of the Ronin and Stellar Blade. Nioh 2 is a top 5 game ever for me, so I love Team Ninja...I have just heard that they really "dumbed down" the combat in that game though.

 

For your game it depends what you want for an experience. SB is closer to a soulslike while Ronin is really more AC than Nioh

I’ve been sidequesting since fighting the second Alpha, it’s been a blast

ngl I found my Xbox one copy of dark souls 2 (a game I’ve never played a minute of) today and wished I still had an xbone. they’ve gotta be dirt cheap now

 

god my steam deck emulation stuff is a mess I tried deleting some roms to make room but the games are still showing up as if I have them installed when I don’t

 

to all of you who said they dropped FF7 Rebirth to easy - thank you. I’m near the end and some of these spikes are interesting and not what I was expecting.

 

I’m contemplating buying a series s just because I don’t care about graphics but also I love the series x too much

 

All my friends are buying Series Xs because of Game Pass lately, particularly because Bethesda

 

Made it to the third island in gta 4 don’t think I ever made it this far back in the day

 

I feel like the praise for lies of p is massively overblown. The level design in that game is so painfully dull. I replayed dark souls 3 the other week (after getting bored of P to be precise) and it’s just such a stark difference.

LOTF has problem of its own. It’s really taking itself too seriously even though there’s nothing to take serious. It’s drab and dull and barely has an idea of its own (even the umbral real us just yassified soul reaver) but it’s executed so well and the levels/the map are nicely intertwined.

I played the tutorial level of LOTF on my deck and did not like how it felt, need to give it a shot on my pc. Some games just don’t translate to the deck well

 

some of the fights are just really poorly designed - Rufus in chapter 12 comes to mind. The window to get attacks off is so small and when he summons the dog you basically have no chance unless you get lucky and after 8 tries I was like I’m not even having fun. Like I understand the boss mechanic and what to do it’s just designed so poorly you can’t read the telegraphs and the small window just makes it tedious rather than challenging. I tried to go back to normal after that fight but by the time I got to Rude and Elena in chapter 13 I was spent and flipped it to easy for good. I do wonder what the last two boss fights are like on normal but I have a feeling they would also be more frustrating than fun. Now I will admit I did very little side content that helps with combat like I didn’t unlock any of the summons and didn’t go out looking for game breaking materia or look up broken builds for certain characters so if I had put a little more time investment in maybe I’d have fared better by the end of the game. Still it’s a small complaint and for about 40-45 hours I was able to play on normal which offered a good challenge and engaging mechanics. Burn out and bad late game design gets the better of it though.

 

The game is painfully mid before you beat the first real boss. I put it down multiple times. Horrible first impression and really doesn’t let you indulge in what the game does best (multi-planar exploration)

 

Fwiw I think Stellar Blade is tremendously better than both. I agree with the criticisms for the most part (and have some of my own as well) but I just like what I get out of Lies of P tremendously more than what I get out of LOTF.
