Looks like Fantasy is going to be releasing some of the songs from 152 in "karaoke/off-vocal" versions. This makes me insanely happy because I love to make vocal covers of their songs and I like using official instrumentals of they're available. (The only ones that are available are from Louder Now, which is great for me because that's my favorite album.)
I wonder why Victory releases instrumental versions of Hawthorne Heights' two biggest albums but never TBS? This confuzzles me.

They're doing fine without Fred, lol; it might be time to move on.

    This is so good.
As cool as that would be, I just don’t see it happening. I know Fred and Adam mended fences but I don’t know if Mark and Fred have. I think both parties are happy with where they’re at now. Though it’d be so rad to watch Fred and John trade off on 2nd vocal duties throughout the set, and to see Fred play post-Louder Now songs. Nathan stays though because he rules.

I feel like the idea was floated at some point of Fred playing with them alongside John, but Mark was against it? Idk.

When I first heard S’Old, I had an idea for a TikTok challenge revolving around it then I realized I am, in fact, S’Old and have no idea how to create viral TikTok content and let that ship sail.

Might still be salty over Fred supposedly trying to get him replaced. Not sure of the details there but I’d be a little bitter about that too tbh. The idea of replacing Mark is insane to me given how good he is.

I'm probably not as S'old and I just flat-out don't use TikTok. I remember when the music video for that song came out and I heard the instrumental in the background at the beginning. I immediately went, "I want it!!" Lol.
As cool as it would be to have Fred come back, I honestly don't know many other bands besides Sum 41 that have their guitarists from different eras team up like that. It's just doesn't happen that often.

Fred made his choice to leave. If he regrets it, that’s on him. He can keep posting his video play throughs and joining emo night djs on stage. They’re fine without him, and as much as everybody loves to romanticize that era of the band, Fred’s vocals never did anything for me. I remember it being a whole thing at one point too, about how he couldn’t scream.

Mark feels like the core of TBS at this point. Any time they talk about a good idea, it feels like they can point back to him.

Case in point- the idea for “Keep Going” came from him.
As far as Fred goes, I don’t think he regrets leaving, but from what I’ve heard him say in interviews, it seems like he wishes he had handled some things differently pre/post exit so it would’ve been a more amicable split, and that he’s grateful to have been a part of something that still means a lot to a lot of people.

i love fred and that era of the band, but him going around and playing breweries and emo nites using ex-taking back sunday is just a bit...odd. he chose to leave.

This is the first time I've heard of Fred not being able to scream? I've always thought his vocals sounded way better than John's.

He sounded really rough at the beginning (late 2003), but that's because he had never screamed before that. It seemed like got vocal lessons or something during the recording of WYWTB (this is just my conjecture).

Mark being the core of the band is very interesting to me. When I looked at videos from the 2000s, he doesn't seem as involved (at least in my opinion). Perhaps getting GarageBand on his phone just made him that much more into making his own music.
Can't wait to see what else he comes up with in the future!

I mean I’m pretty sure I remember hearing/reading somewhere that Mark came up with the Cute Without the E riff and possibly the one for Swing as well. Maybe he wasn’t in the videos, but he’s definitely been a big influence. He was the big push for John and Shaun to come back, too.

Mark definitely wrote the Swing riff and Cute sounds right as well. From everything I've read it sounds like he plays a big part in the songwriting.

Also remember reading somewhere that Eddie wrote the 180 riff

They’ve always maintained that they all bring ideas to the table when it comes to song writing, and to me, that never really sounded like they were tied to whatever instrument they were playing in the band. I think Adam (and John in this iteration of the band) have been put in front of the camera the most for interviews, but I noticed this record cycle, Shaun’s been doing a lot of that now, too.

How is it odd? He is quite literally ex taking back Sunday

He is, but I feel that over 15 years after the fact plus his solo career and being involved with other bands, it’s interesting that that’s the main thing he’s at least signing off on being promoted as.

more that he just suddenly started embracing it again. he kind of didn’t mention it for years and now he’s out playing the songs again, etc.

I like that Shaun is getting a chance to speak up more. To me he actually seems a little more comfortable in interviews than John and Adam, strangely enough. Adam's always seemed kind of shy in contrast to his on stage persona

Eddie did write 180 and its bridge/outro, and the opening riff for Bonus Mosh. In fact I think Eddie is responsible for most of their bridges.
Adam wrote the What’s It Feel Like to be a Ghost riff
    Rubano came up with Makedamnsure

The first singer TBS had, who left the band in 1999, before they even got signed, still plays shows with the billing “Antonio, original singer of Taking Back Sunday.”

That one’s weird to me, but if Fred is using the billing and including TBS songs in his set, I don’t see a problem.
