I mean, it really sucks if true lol not sure what folks are expected to say. There were multiple victims/witnesses of the Lizzo stuff. I guess we'll just see how things shake out and if anyone else comes forward

 

Maaaaan that sucks, fuck. Curious to hear what else comes out and if there's more people come out with similar experiences with her. Damn though.

 

I think the thing I've learned with all of these stories is that more often than not, it's a pattern of behavior and less so a singular instance.

 

Anytime a lawsuit is filed with the threat of sanctions and perjury against a more powerful person it deserves to be take seriously

What is up with these documentaries coming out that are around serious allegations but then add a conspiracy theory type undercurrent? We had the nickelodeon one and I just saw a trailer for the one on nick Carter from Backstreet Boys that seemed to kinda hint that Aaron Carter was killed to be silenced about it? I don't doubt that nick carter absolutely did bad things. But I felt uncomfortable watching the trailer at the same time. It just feels irresponsible idk.

I don't have any problems with people being interested in tragic stories or the psychology behind crime or terrible people, but these junk food ID shows and the way some people engage with them are so deeply disturbing.

I'm not on TikTok and don't know the vibe of the channel/user posting that, so maybe there's a level of sarcasm or criticism that I'm totally missing, but "ID channel has done it again y'all" on top of this subject matter is some black mirror stuff for me.

Probably more of a conversation for the Entertainment thread, but just saying.

 

Yeah idk that user either so I skimmed some comments to see what the tone was and idk. I'm legitimately glad to see things in a place where people are taking victims seriously and i was glad to see that in the comments I skimmed. But the reality and statements released about Nick and anyone else in these types of things are awful enough. The fact that some of these documentaries think they have to add a "twist" to make it more awful and shocking is annoying. It almost feels like "regular" assault and abuse isn't enough so they have to add an extra shock factor. Dystopian.

 

There should be a moratorium on these docs until people remember how to make them thoughtfully and not as a cash grab imo, it is so insanely upsetting (and predictable) that just seven years after #MeToo, we have turned abuse allegations into a commodity

My understanding is that their ex bassist assaulted a former partner, that partner went to the band for help, and the band didn’t really do anything until she went public with it. Per this thread, their singer has had some questionable interactions with people on Twitter as well.

 

The fact that the guy coming to their defense is called Red Burger with a picture of a raw burger as his avatar is fucking hilarious
