Rough Trade, as mentioned probably makes the most sense, but if you are in Greenwich Village, I strongly recommend Generation Records.

Nice! The link is down now so maybe it went up early?

Throwing out the Hail Mary because I've been stalking Discogs, but if anyone has a copy of The Sidekicks' "Weight Of Air" or "So Long Soggy Dog" and wants to give them new homes, slide in my DM's. :)

  7. No one asked but in LA I've been to

Amoeba Hollywood, tho I mostly buy CDs/DVDs/graphic novels
Atomic Records in Burbank, tho I mostly buy bluray
Run Out Groove Records in Burbank, but only once and I didn't get anything
Licorice Pizza Records in Studio City, also only once and I didn't get anything

I also sometimes browse through records at used book stores like The Open Book in Northridge, Lost Books in Montrose, and The Last Bookstore in DTLA, but they mostly carry older stuff and/or the artists I'm actually interested in are overpriced

I tend to buy from sales at big retailers like Target, B&N, FYE
I feel a bit self conscious about often spending only $15 or less on vinyl since that might not be the best way to actually support the artist
But I'm getting better at buying from shows when I can, like if the merch line isn't freakishly long. Some of the shows I'm going to this year are at bigger venues so idk if I'll manage

I'm guessing so... that's why I ordered so quick. Bummer :(

If you make it out to Orange County, Programme or White Rabbit in Fullerton are great. The Glass House in Pomona has a surprisingly good used selection and sells on Discogs too; I scored a copy of NFG's "Nothing Gold Can Stay" from them.

going underground records in little tokyo has a great selection for our music scene. so does CDtrader in tarzana. Realistically at this point the only indie stores I regularly buy stuff at are amoeba and going underground, and then I get a lot of blurays/dvds at Atomic and CDtrader.

Weird (and cool) to have vinyl come in so early. It was initially set at 6/14.

yeah, haha. Definitely a first for me to receive an album early.

Man, shipping costs have really slowed down my vinyl buying. It's already hard to pull the trigger buying single LPs at $25, but now less places are offering media mail options and will charge $9 minimum to mail a single LP. Feels like a rip off and has stopped me from buying things on more than one occasion.

Yeah, my vinyl purchasing has fallen off a cliff since last October. Only things I purchased this year were Kerplunk from 123 and a 7" from a small hardcore band. It's a combination of vinyl and shipping costs, but also that I have a lot of what I consider a must have. I am mostly in selective purchasing mode and largely chilling out on buying a ton of new records.

    Die rad.

I find the easiest way to save money is to not shop online. Prices are higher, but you save on shipping and availability.

Between shipping costs and the cascading preorder delays, I have definitely chilled on buying vinyl online. There are few heavy hitters that I'd purchase/preorder if they become available again but I'm starting to focus on buying more locally.

able to order a copy of FTSTYS2 from NFG at UO online today.
still a bit hesitant on the PS clarity album. if it's still available in two more weeks (next pay day), then i'll bite.
aaand that's it for now as far as vinyl goes for me.

I’m STILL waiting on my ETID pre-orders from Parting Gift.

I have the new SYSC in transit from one of my favorite shops (Seasick Records in Birmingham, AL), so that’s all I got pending at the moment

I’ve cut down on my purchases a lot too. Started going through my collection and pulling one’s I plan to sell.

I think the list below is all I’m waiting on.

    Name Taken
    Saturdays at Your Place
    Early November (x3)
    TSSF

That SYSC record is doing really well at our local shop (Programme Skate, Fullerton CA) because they're doing an instore release show that was free with the record purchase. They had a line overnight for the release date and it was one of their top sellers for RSD.

Ugh, I had a chance to stop in there back in March, but had to drive back to NorCal. I hope that shop pops off!
