what I don’t see happening, is sitting at 17 and taking a prospect I love… unless it’s Adonai Mitchell. MAYBE I’d give Kool-Aid a B there.

I don’t like Terrion enough to draft him several picks ahead of Kool Aid. Bowers, the top tackles, the top pass rushers probably not falling. I don’t think Quinyon is falling nor do I think the Jags want Quinyon as much as I do (personally thats my favorite corner and i think his physical off-man skillset is so valuable I’d rather take that and then coach him to play cover 3). I would dislike taking a different WR there, Ladd / Legette/ BTJ are NOT pick 17 to me.

I guess I would accept:
Taliese Fuaga or JPJ would be a great pick if we didn’t already restructure Scherff… but that’s not gonna help us this year when Trevor needs to take a step forward. Still, I’m not fully satisfied with the line and it doesn’t hurt to plan ahead.

Jared Verse, sure, draft another sick pass rusher. That’s fine. Historically you can’t go wrong with that. Travon Walker can play inside. We can play some hybrid looks that mimic a 3-4 in pressure situations (such as a 1-4-6 “big dime”, a 3-3-5 Nickel, or a 4-3 “under” alignment.)

Byron Murphy / Jer’Zhan Newton, same idea. it strengthens a strength but we have more pressing needs.

But sans Mitchell / Quinyon, I just know we’re gonna do something underwhelming either by taking BTJ at 17, or taking a good player that’s not a need at 17 but then totally whiffing at receiver. It’s a deep receiver group but idk if I trust us to go the direction I think we should go, most of the rest are awesome secondary weapons but not lead weapons to me.

I like Ricky Pearsall as a prospect but he’s basically Christian Kirk. Legette ain’t falling to our second round pick. Worthy ain’t either & I don’t think he’ll be as good on a team that doesn’t have a dominant X to open him up. I’d honestly rather have Javon Baker or Tez Walker in the third than our other options in the second and that’s less of a sure thing at that point. I don’t want Jermaine Burton cause character concerns. I don’t want Keon Coleman cause statistically from multiple angles he wasn’t that good. Ja’Lynn Polk prob doesn’t move the needle much from Gabe Davis. etc etc. I think my favorite realistic option at 47, if we skip WR in round 1, is Troy Franklin. But even then, despite being 6’3” he plays soft and our WR corps is already soft.

 

I wonder if Trevor misses throwing jump balls to Tee Higgins and Justyn Ross. I’d ask him that question if I was a reporter at a press conference haha
