This is definitely better than Midnights, which I still think pretty much sucks. Or at least, there feels like more to dig into here

 

I’m listening to Chappell Roan for the first time and don’t get the visceral rejection of her I saw here, the album is cool

 

It’s a great debut and Pink Pony Club is one of the best pop tunes of the decade.

 

Yeah, some people dig it! I can't recall the last time I hated an album more. Y'all do you!

 

I don't think I hate her or anything, just tired of hearing about her when I think the music is pretty mediocre

 

I guess I like the Chappell Roan stuff as much as at least like, half of the Taylor Swift I’ve listened to, and being sick of hearing about Roan for the personal perceived disparity between popularity and quality parallels some of my recent feelings on Taylor Swift. But even that is something I’ve learned to let go of as much as I can because what does it actually matter

 

As an f slur who fought on the trenches to get people to listen to Chappell, I’m very excited for her success. It’s really cool to see a sapphic performer get such a push. To me, she feels like gen z’s version of Mariana and the Diamonds.

I do agree her push has been giant as of late.

Never heard of Chappell Roan but listening now and I can’t imagine having such a negative reaction to this. Probably won’t return to it but it’s not bad and pretty inoffensive.

 

The more I listen to this, “Fortnight” is a terrible single (even if I get why it’s the obvious single). The chorus doesn’t even make sense lyrically.


The songs about Joe hit waaaaaay harder than the ones about Matty. This album will eventually be a friend group’s best defense on keeping a friend from a rebound.

This is a grower and headphones elevated this big time, still figuring out how I feel, Down Bad seems like a single to me but seems I’m in the minority on that ? Some all time terrible lyrics, some gems, production not standing out on a Folklore level but feel like this will surpass Midnights which I initially liked a decent amount but kinda soured on

 

Hoping guilty as sin is a single…that one is suitable to be sung in the arenas she plays in

 

The subreddit is speculating more songs dropping at 2 AM lol

 

To be clear, I don’t hate HER, I just found her music incredibly annoying and think she is bad at writing songs.

 

Besides that Mrs Lincoln …

 

I’m sure she’s a lovely person.

With Taylor having taken up so much of the conversation in 2023 and 2024, someone like Chappell Roan coming along and being a breath of fresh air from Taylor is nice. Sure, we have had Ariana and Billie and Dua coming up, but it’s just nice to see someone like Chappell making a large amount of noise this year.
