There needs to be a clean break, IMO. All new collaborators, a new songwriting approach, a temporary moratorium on synths. I both like this album and feel like it's spinning its wheels in a lot of ways.

Skimmed through a bit and didn't see - is the supposed shoutout to The Starting Line on one of the deluxe editions?

It's been 10 years of Jack producing portions of her albums - yes, with some sonic growth across them - but it's tired at this point.

Perfect - thank you guys. I just saw Matt Watts's story and couldn't really dig anything up so I suspected that might be the case. That's awesome.

  7. So my assumption of this basically feeling like a Midnights part 2 is more or less correct?

    It’s better than Midnights

I want more 1989 level pop bangers

  14. I'm sure I will. I really like Folklore, Evermore, and Midnights, and all the tracks on the TVs and yadda yadda. So I'm sure I'll like the new album too. I'm just ready to hear something new from her again. I'll take another album in that vein, but yeah, let's stretch the muscles on a new machine for a bit. (Wow, I made a gym reference and I've never even stepped foot into one.)

Yeah she went and wrote Cruel Summer then said, I think I've peaked at writing pop bangers, and hasn't tried again. JK, I know Midnights tried with a couple songs, but she still hasn't come close.

    Maybe it’s the Midnights non-main 13.

It's a miracle. My pre-order shipped from her store and is arriving on Saturday. It typically takes a week or two after the creation of the shipping label before it actually ships and arrives.

Granted people here who've listened to the leak don't seem too enthusiastic about this one, and a bit of Taylor fatigue hit me the moment she announced the album at the Grammy's, so I'm more excited at this point for Record Store Day on Saturday.

Don’t hate me, but I feel that way about Deeper Well too.

Honestly, I feel that music in general is nearing a large sonic shift. The Eilish/Bridgers/Swift sound has become oversaturated and imo, we’ve only got 1-2 more record cycles from each artist before a sonic shift happens, with or without them.
