folklore still has some clunkier transitions between the Jack/Aaron songs, but way better than most of her catalog

Is this like her second or third best album? Evermore > Folklore > Red=TPD?

I don't get the criticisms at all. This is great.

it's like 5 years too early to answer this. not in my top 5 and don't see it breaking it

I guess I get it. There are just so many of her albums that have giant clunkers in them that stop the flow, and hold them back from being masterpieces. Red has Stay, Stay, Stay. Rep has a few. 1989 has Bad blood. Evermore and Folklore are her only two that don't have that (to me), and I am struggling to find any on this one that I flatly don't like.

Yeah I've listened twice, no way I can even think of ranking it yet.

    u wut m8?

Black Dog is the best song on this. Wild that it wasn't the original closer.

I’m only truly a fan of the 1989 and beyond stuff, so I’m not a good litmus test for these types of questions, but there’s 2 tiers there and this is in the upper one

    1989 - folklore/evermore - TPPD

    rep - lover - midnights

I like her pre-1989 stuff, but I'd mostly agree with this. I would put Evermore alone in a tier above the others. Truly one of my all time favorites, but I am glad that I don't feel crazy!

Idk, I've never thought any of those transitions are clunky. Their styles mesh pretty well for me on that album.

This is kind of like Evermore/Midnights after a few tracks. I’m about it.

But Daddy, I Love Him is a banger. Easily my favorite through seven songs so far.

We probably set a chorus record for deleted posts in a thread.

I really love the title track. Especially the production.

Taylor, Jack, and Aaron are a perfect match. I understand that sonically this isn't a huge departure from Midnights and a handful of tracks from Folklore/Evermore and that might bother folks hoping for another Taylor reinvention, but IMO it's a great expansion of what she explored on those albums. I definitely don't agree that "we've heard all these songs before."

Finishing up a full listen and I think the title track and Favorite Toys are both great songs. But unfortunately nothing else is really grabbing me.

Really enjoying the album sonically, but lyrically struggling. Some weird choices

    Things have changed.

The Swiftie brain rot around the leak and being "so heartbroken for her" is on full display on social media right now.

We reach for the longest shadow

Maybe stores shouldn't have shipped out copies early? Stuff leaking two days before release used to be considered an accomplishment.

my wife's friends were having a convo saying that they'll be true swifties and listen on friday as she intended or felt morally conflicted about listening to the leak...

we both agreed that it's not that serious lmao - it was like 24 hours before it's out in New Zealand anyway

I am a little confused by this. One of my friends got up and ran around the room while we were watching the Grammys and she announced the album. But when I tried to help her listen yesterday, she declined, out of "respect for Taylor Swift."

It confuses me because Taylor stands to lose little to no money from the leak. Every person that will purchase the album already has. People who download the leak will still be streaming it on Friday.

But that respect isn't afforded smaller artists? With less money and power? This argument is like shoplifting from Wal-Mart or a local store. If you're going to do it, do it from the corporation, yes?

    Things have changed.

Because she is "mother," an actual cult leader in their eyes, and their lives revolve around doing everything they can to white knight and protect a literal billionaire lol

"My heart breaks for Taylor. I'm so sorry baby we tried so hard" ... yikes.

    Things have changed.

But they're also trying to spin it and say it's the most downloaded leak of all time because she's the greatest artist ever, which is ... not quantifiable in any way? lol
