DET has exceeded expectations, yzerman didn't even think they'd be contending for a playoff spot. That's exactly why lalonde needs to go, wings are ready to move up and need a coach who can get them there.

I’m not as down on Lalonde as most are, but I’m also not convinced he’s “the guy” for (hopefully) any sort of serious contender run these next few years, so I’d be okay with a coaching change.
