Outside of the singing/yelling it wasn't too bad

Huh. I don’t know if I’ve ever personally noticed that? But I have to imagine that during the louder now songs (and wywtb songs but they play less of these) that it’s kind of like playing a cover song that you don’t really have any kind of attachment towards.

I wish they didn’t play as much off louder now during their regular headlining sets. I get that it has the most hits for them, but I don’t think it really suits anybody’s current vocals or even playing styles. Keep makedamnsure for obvious reasons and maybe rotate one or two other songs in and out but they have a lot of other songs I feel would do decently at a headline set for them.

Nah, it was pretty much on par with recent TBS performances. They're bad these days.

John also has the misfortune to try and scream Fred’s parts, which cannot be easy

    Maybe so, maybe not.

The roundabouts people are doing in here to avoid the plain truth that they just aren't a good live band anymore.

Someone else mentioned the Deftones - they're going to need to start adjusting what they play because Chino's voice is finally getting rough and he can't hit the notes he used to. Here's something many bands do and TBS doesn't - change the key so it still sounds good and is in a range their vocalist can hit.

That's my feeling. They just aren't good. Haven't been good for quite some time now.

I think it's kinda disingenuous to say the band as a whole isn't a good live band. The ones playing instruments sound great and consistent every time I've seen a recent video. Even Adam seems to have improved recently, especially for the newer songs. Everybody has bad nights and yeah, things change as you get older, but John has stuck out as seemingly out of it for years. It feels weird to say "I hope it's just an attitude (not caring enough) thing and not a health thing" but that's where I'm at.

Yeah I guess I am doing roundabouts, I just love these guys and want them to be good. They need whatever vocal exercises or coaching that Jim from JEW has, he sounds as good if not better now that 20 years ago.

I’ve been seeing TBS since around 2003 and not one time did I got anticipating some on par vocals….tbs shows are meant for the audience to the sing the lyrics in unison and dance like I am 20 again

I’ve been watching this band for 20 years now. Adam comes and goes, we’re in a bad period now. John hasn’t ever appeared to really enjoy live performances in this, straylight run, or his solo tours. It always felt like a job.

Anyone saying they sounded good is doing backflips trying to cover for what was an absolutely atrocious performance even by TBS’s standards.

Ever since John Nolan mentioned that My Heart Will Go On was the worst song in the world, he’s lost all credibility.

I simply cannot allow the continued criticism of John Nolan when he has always been the best part of this band. Won't allow it. Please go back to talking about Adam now, thank you.

I saw SR in 07 and 08 and was low key blown away. I think that’s why I find John’s indifference on the stage in TBS so alarming. I can buy the argument that most of the songs that resonate with fans, he was not a part of so I can see that straining on him over the years, but even the TAYF stuff and newer stuff, he still seems to mail in and just belt shit out.

By the way, despite everything I have said, I am AMPED to see them in June because I cannot wait to hear these 152 songs live and You Can’t Look Back as Tidal Wave was the only album tour I have ever missed for this band.

I’m also excited to see them, in part because I really like both the new Citizen album and 152. Two bands that really caught me by surprise with their 2023 albums.

This is where I'm at. Adam has never been a good singer, John has gotten worse. Just blaming Adam is mean because everyone always hounds on him to the point that it's actually boring me.
I'm still surprised at the fact that they play "Error: Operator" so much. That song is hard as shit to sing, even if you lower the key. That song is built to destroy your vocals chords lol, specifically the chorus.

I am the biggest John stan I've ever met, and that's why it just makes me sad. I want him to be happy and have fun playing music but also for it to sound good, you know? Is his shoulder ok? Is his voice ok? John, tell us how we can help.

I do apologize for any confusion, but the last part there was not serious.

If these posts were also not serious, then I apologize that we are going in circles.
