I’ve had a civil engineer friend explain to me why it was actually an infrastructure failure before going into how many bridges are in a concerning state of disrepair. I’m kinda afraid of tunnels now too.

 

that sounds right but doesn't change the fact that IF A SKYSCRAPER-SIZED BOAT RUNS INTO A BRIDGE IT'S GONNA COLLAPSE

 

i am a-ok fine with bridges but i get uneasy every time im in traffic in any of the NYC tunnels lol

 

There are ways to design a bridge so that doesn’t happen but the vast majority of them are not designed that way, so

 

I fear being in my car

Bridges can be scary tunnels can be scary but dudes in Ford F250s who think they're Jeff Gordon are terrifying

Yes. This. This exists in Florida too but Texas is on hard mode

 

Lol yes of course. There are things you can build surrounding the bridge to avoid the skyscraper sized boat running into it but they’re expensive so a lot of bridges don’t have them.

Central/south Florida driving is scarier than Texas driving IMO but at least in Florida they're mostly driving lil sports cars

the thing I remember from driving in Orlando like 6 years ago was that often times, without much warning, the lane I was in would become a turn lane

 

I feel like a lot of us would survive a few days on an island until Grant Cloud started hunting us for fun
