Somebody who knows more about court things than me, why does Trump need to be present in court for jury selection?

 

When I was on jury duty and they were selecting the jury members, the defendant was present the whole time.

The parties have a right to participate in jury selection, which includes questioning jurors and removing a certain number of them from the pool. They can act through their lawyers sure but essentially anytime the lawyers are making these kinds of actions the parties have a right to be there to be consulted.
