Cost controlled unknown vs. Expensive but proven guy. Give me Aiyuk no brainer.

99/100 I choose Aiyuk easily but with Trevor and Cisco for sure needing a big bag and Tyson/ETN probably too, on top of this being an extremely rare draft where a prospect of MHJ/Naber/Rome's caliber is within trade up distance, makes me prefer that option.

    The rivalry is back on

    depends on the team

I’d take Aiyuk in a heartbeat for someone like NE who has money to burn on top players

I’d take Odunze for someone like JAX who just paid Allen and need to pay Trev in the next 12 months

I’m unpacking boxes from our move and when I opened this one I realized there is nothing more high school I could have encountered for us elder millenials

    Cisco is probably 16-18
    Tyson 13-15
    ETN is 10-12
    Trevor is probably 48-50

Aiyuk is probably 26-28 on top of all that

yeah we’re trying to hold out until at least 2 (he turns 2 in August) and after that, want some guard rails around screen time like that but idk what that’ll end up being

Aiyuk for the Jags makes sense in a vacuum, but doesn’t when you consider that their current starting WRs are all veterans. They could stand to add someone on a rookie contract

If they didn’t sign Davis and moved on from Zay, I’d feel differently, but that’s not the world we live in

is Cisco really that good to break through and get TOP safety money in a bad safety market for anyone who isn’t actively elite?

Dugger is only getting $11M at the peak of his contract

Aiyuk/Tee makes all the sense in the world for the Jags to me.

It’s now year 4 of Trev and you still haven’t given him enough. Go get a real, bonafide stud at WR who is already proven and coming off a great season while also investing less draft capital than trading up would cost.

If I cared about the cap, which I don’t, I’d say “it’s only going up and by big chunks and if paying some of the aforementioned players stops you from getting a WR1, maybe don’t pay them.”

Like if you draft Rome and he turns into an Aiyuk caliber player it’s a home run pick. So why not just guarantee it and eliminate any unknown.

Is Aiyuk playing at a top level without Shanahan a guarantee? I like Aiyuk, I just think at the end of the day there’s a risk with that as well, there’s not no downside or floor with Aiyuk

I’d still do the trade if I can’t move up for/secure one of the top 3 WRs though

McKinney and Winfield just got about that much so I'm projecting upwards and also assuming Cisco keeps improving

Don’t get me wrong, you’re comparing a good move with an also good move

The risk with Aiyuk or (especially) Higgins is that they function best as a very good secondary option, you trade for them and pay them accordingly, and they do well but not bona fide WR1 good and you have the Chargers old problem and have the most expensive WR room in the league but still lack a top 10 overall WR

Thiiiiiis. A scheme change and going to be a true WR1 is not a guarantee

The cost controlled guy costs way more in draft value though. Not that I’m opposed to it.

If we went into it with contract terms already preliminarily discussed with Aiyuk once SF gave him permission to talk to other teams, I’d be totally about it. I don’t want to spend a 1 on renting him for a year but even with the cost of a new contract I’d gladly spend a single 1 and no other draft picks on locking him up for a few years the way the Eagles did with AJB

I just figure Jevon Holland is the guy to take advantage of that and Cisco is in the upper middle class of safeties

maybe I’m wrong and he’s that big of a stud though?

He's 4th in INTs among guys 27 and under. And Bates had probably his best year under Nielsen too so. It's projection for sure though

I pretty much am in the camp of it being a good idea but it needs to be a draft day trade, y’all have to know what is there for you before making the move

It’s not a guarantee but my gut tells me that’s just Aiyuk being good. The only other time Shanahan’s really had a leading receiver like that is Julio Jones… who was also, just, Good. I do think Shanahan is maximizing Aiyuk’s potential in an offense that’s a well oiled machine, much like Julio’s best years were with him, but I also think he kinda held Aiyuk back earlier by putting him the doghouse or whatever after drafting him, and sometimes the SF offense has so many damn weapons it doesn’t even need him lol
