i don’t think he would’ve signed one in his first term but he probably would now, only way he wouldn’t is if somehow he internalized that it would genuinely tarnish his legacy even with (some portion of) his people, although he’d probably be dead before that actually reflected in public opinion lol

 

I don't think he'd sign a 6-week one, but he'd sign a 15/16 week one as he's proposed several times in the (recent) past.

I think Biden is a catastrophically bad candidate.

 

I mean he is a bad candidate but saying Trump is much better is… well a thing to say!

 

I assume they mean “as a person campaigning for an office” which I kinda get

 

not better at being president, better at running. I think that is true. Biden is horrible at running for president and won the first time solely because he is not trump. I hope it is enough again, but I don't have a lot of faith.

Dems should have gone to their bench for this election, however weak. Biden's ego got in the way.

I can't tell if Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. truly believes he is the best and only chance our country has at keeping trump out of the presidency again. the fact that he stayed in and ran again points to that, but so much about what he is doing right now is utterly baffling and really does not look that way

 

I think this is a very bad take haha. I remember people saying this during the early days of the 2020 primary and I tried warning everyone he's actually really good at politicking and schmoozing voters and even got better and knowing what the right thing to say was, something that used to crush him in his younger days.

I mean shit, even the polling has turned around since the nominations got settled and now Biden is averaging a lead.

I think there are weaknesses to Biden the candidate, but I don't think that Trump quote, which is basically saying "states rights to throw doctors in jail for committing abortion" is a good sign of it. Trump is def doing the smart thing by trying to bullshit his way through the needle on the abortion debate, but "i'll let states throw doctors in jail" is probably not the quote that's a good example of that lol.

 

Like, Trump just said last week something like "do they want the white president or the black president...I think they want a white one!"....he's not really that great at campaigning, he's just good at tapping into white hatred lol

 

him and the Democratic party really fucking love rules and tradition and presidents not running for a 2nd term is so rare that LBJ was the last one

 

The media also covers trump as if he isn’t catastrophically dangerous, he’s just the Republican nominee. Sure some talking heads will call him a threat to democracy but they’ll also jump at every chance to make him look like a skillful presidential candidate. All it seems to be doing is normalizing candidates that are threats to democracy!
