I would give it a chance if it was an animated prequel to the original but the 2019 lion king was an abomination that needed to be forgotten

 

hopefully he gets paid and uses the money to make whatever he wants

 

people always say that especially with marvel creators and how often has that actually happened

I love The Lion King. (1994, not 2019). At least this looks new, story-wise. When kid mufasa is jumping hippo to hippo it looks like the level from the SNES game. I'll undoubtedly see this opening day.

Yeah after watching the trailer, this doesn't hold. I always thought the animation in the original was so focused on making the lions realistic that I felt they might as well just have filmed actual lions. The animated ones didn't really emote. But in this one it seems like all characters will emote a bit more.
