Yeah, this was way more satisfying than most Manias, mainly because it feels like the writers don’t actively hate the audience

 

Paul retaining in a triple threat match with KO and orten should be blasphemy.

That main event was so long and ridiculous and I loved every second of it. Stars being stars. They also told you so many times that Cody is screwed that you absolutely know that he's winning tomorrow and it's fine because the whiplash of emotion is going to be great.

 

Yup the main event could've been on raw and nothing woulda changed.

 

Charlotte/Rhea, Seth/Logan, Rey/Dom. Plus the fun women’s tag match that had Trish. Much better last year.

I forgot Becky/Rhea even happened tonight.

So basically the card last year was similar to this year but last year had a more fan friendly main event

 

I’d take this night one over that one any day.

 

First two matches were solid; last two did their jobs well. Big problem is they should have just cut the rey/andrade win and The Usos didnt deliver. If Jimmy/Jey delivered a 15min blood feud match, it'd have been a much stronger card. Instead there was like an hour with nothing interesting happening aside from some entrance gear

 

Seth obviously wasn't taking the pinfall. I think Roman getting the pin made sense since he's been getting completely overshadowed in his own feud and he's likely giving Rhodes the win tomorrow anyway. If we're getting Rock/Cody then yeah, I guess you can rationalize it, but I didn't realize that was a likelihood.

 

Becky Rhea was worlds better than Charlotte Rhea

 

This was my first time actually watching Gunther wrestle...he's legit good. Technically sound and creates heat with the crowd perfectly. Every chance he got he just stared down Khadija and it worked. My wife who is like a normal person doesn't care for wrestling was like "why is that tall guy such a jerk". No wonder he's worked several five star matches already.

And yet reigns still can't muster a fraction of that personality despite being pushed to the moon. Despite heyman. Despite the rock. Really hope the title swap tomorrow starts the end of an era.

I thought both tonight's show and last year's night 1 were very good in their own ways. Last year was the "fan service" night, whereas this year, that'll be night 2 with Cody's coronation.

Night 1 had:

- A great opener with Becky and Rhea
- A stupidly fun ladder match with R Truth coming out on top
- A not great but not bad match with Rey, Dom, Andrade, and Santos
- A boring Usos match
- Black Girl Magic
- A phenomenal Sami and Gunther match
- Fun, silly, entertaining main event with one of the greatest of all time not tainting his legacy in the slightest and setting up an even more ridiculous main event for night 2.

That's a pretty solid success by any measure in my books

 

Inject the overbooking tomorrow night all up in me

 

Roman getting overshadowed is going to lead to Rock kicking him out of the bloodline and as tribal chief

this is all leading to a face Roman heel rock mania 41 main event

 

Doesn't Gable have a lot of people pulling for him? I feel like you'd want to keep him away from Sami for now so you don't have the crowd turn on Sami.

Let Sami feud with Dom

 

As you watch more of his stuff, the thing that also separates him is he finishes matches like 6 different ways, so finishes come more out of nowhere; and while he's always in physical matches, he adapts his style very well to his opponents.
