Haha I think he'd enjoy it if he listened to it cause he finds something to love about almost all music. But it'd still feel like we were seeing "my band" and not a present for him.

My show is in 3 weeks. Almost forgot about it. Seems to be almost zero buzz for it.

I saw them headline last Spring, and they played 16 songs and...that was before No Joy was out.

NGL that set is kinda disappointing. Only one song off Schmaltz and they are playing a cover. The new album hasn’t stuck with me outside of a few songs. I’ll be skipping this tour unless I get the last minute urge to go.

Schmaltz came out 6 years ago, I'm surprised it even gets 1 song played

Well I mean I’d even take more off of BFE. They never really did a proper headliner for it due to Covid. Also the setlists in Europe had 3-4 Schmaltz songs a night. I’d argue more of their fan base digs Schmaltz than the new album. I like New Joy but it’s received zero buzz compared to the prior two albums.

i've never enjoyed a single thing they've done post-schmaltz as much as i enjoy schmaltz.

And I totally know I sound like an entitled asshole when bitching about the setlist. We should just be lucky this band hasn’t broken up. I would not be surprised if they slow down or take some time away from music. They have gotten great support slots, but unfortunately haven’t caught steam with the newer emo crowd like Hot Mulligan, Arms Length, Heart Attack Man etc has.

Which is baffling, as they're far more solid than all of them imo ;d (not to neglect the others their fair chance at success, outside of HAM maybe hahh, but still)

I love Hot Mulligan and Arms Length, but it baffles me how Heart Attack Man has any sort of fanbase. The music isn’t even good or catchy outside of like 1-2 songs. Easily the shittiest band out of the scene to gain steam in a long time lol

Part of me thinks this is a “go big or go home” tour for them (maybe even Oso Oso). Venues were a leap, rather than playing it safe and selling out (like some stops on the Mannequin Pussy/Soul Glo tour), and neither band has made as big of a commercial leap as peers like HM, Militarie Gun, Arm’s Length, Microwave, etc. have.

No reason to know this one way or another, but SLS and OO seem to be sitting in the same spot they’ve been in for a few years, for no specific reason (though I’m sure there is some explanation)

I am heading to the San Diego show tonight so I can report back. Don't know much at all about Oso Oso, but love SLS.

I seem to remember a lot of angst about their # of songs and setlist when they opened for Hot Mulligan last time. So much so that the band started responding on Twitter. Maybe I am sucker for this band due to their lyrics, but I am really rooting for these guys to make it, so I am just happy to see them in any capacity playing what they want to play.

is it the same for you? Prestigious

This is one of my favorite bands, but I also do understand why this type of writing doesn't gain the widest appeal.

I do wish we had more of a huge Spanish Love Songs set and just a meaty Oso Oso one instead of the co-headliner setup, but I'm stoked about the tour either way. Really excited to see Sydney Sprague, too.

It is weird that they seem to have done better abroad than domestically. I can't wait for the Brave Faces Everyone celebration show in the UK but I'm surprised they're not doing the same in the US.

Bummer. Was hoping we’d see a longer set. Love SLS but not excited about this show at all.
