With all the rehashed shit Disney has been putting out I did not expect X-men '97 to actually be better than the original. The characterization, action, and storytelling is heads above. I love the original, but it was a ton of bad exposition. Not to mention the animation is way better than the last few seasons of the original.

 

We're going to be getting Austin Powers 4 by the end of the decade aren't we?

My Mum loves to watch full length concerts of The Killers on YouTube while she sews. One day she was complaining that YouTube had been putting too many ads in her Killer's concerts so I put on adblocker for her. She was ecstatic "This is great!" She said, she could now watch unlimited killers uninterrupted.

The next month she complains her credit card got scammed by the adblocker, I asked her the how adblocker got her credit card details
she said "it asked me to donate to it"
"Why would you do that??"
"It does a great job and I didn't want to rip anyone off."

One random movie memory I just had come back to me : when I was a teen in the mid- 2000's I was at Hollywood Video and I overheard one of the employees who I knew from school try to explain the premise of Gus Van Sant's Elephant to a family with kids who asked about it when she clearly had no idea.

"Yeah it's just a teen movie about the day in the life of kids in high school". I was standing there internally making the shocked Pikachu face.

 

I rented Punch-Drunk Love and The Royal Tenenbaums from Hollywood Video as a kid because I saw Sandler and Stiller on the covers. The clerk warned my mother that Punch-Drunk Love was really weird and she could not finish it. Those are some of the movies that really introduced me to cinema as an art form so I am glad we did not listen to her.

 

20 years later I still harbor a grudge against the Target employee who tried to convince my grandma not to buy me GTA III for Christmas.

 

My mother took me and my younger brother to see Saving Private Ryan when it came out and the employees tried really hard to stop it. I would have been 9 then. I was really into organized crime stories around that time too and my father would not let me get a forgotten PC game called Gangsters: Organized Crime.

I had all the Alien toys as a child but mum never let me watch the films. I only just saw them last year but it was the right choice. I accidentally watched the end of fight club when I was 11, no idea what was happening but I could tell it was really cool and I shouldn't be watching but I did and had a lot of nightmares.
